I am a decided SAHM and I now know that I made the right choice to stay at home! With four little ones and myself in the house, it does get overwhelming and lonely sometimes. Yet, I chose to stay home because I want to have an important influence on my children's lives, since their most critical years are their first ones. And I am finding that they are teaching me as well, something new everyday! I am sure most of you have chosen the same path for the same reasons.
Here's a story that exemplifies why I truly appreciate this site: One day not too long ago, I found myself engaging in adult conversation with my 5 year old girl. I said something like "I really like the taste of this coffee" and I didn't realize it until I saw the blank look on her face as if I were speaking another language. Anyway, that is the moment that I decided that I MUST find an outlet or someone who can identify with me and not just think I must be crazy to have chosen this life, not just look at me and all my children and say "Boy, you've sure got your hands full!"
Now when they tell me this, I say to myself, "Yes, I do have my hands full, overflowing, actually, with blessings!" |

Marissa is my first love, she is 14 now I really appreciate her for being so resourceful, she reminds me that you can get what you want, you just have to ask the right people, and keep asking. Nayelli is my second love. She loves to draw, paint and make new friends, she says she is sweet and my little helper! She tells me all her dreams and I let her know that they are all possible, with faith! She reminds me to keep dreaming and believing. Next are all boys, Ernesto is 4 and full of energy, he is very into figuring everything out and many times will fix (and sometimes break) an electronic just by touching it! Joseph is 3, a charmer, quiet yet tough and loud when he has to be, he will sometimes surprise me by asking me very open-ended questions, such as "why do you like popcorn?"...and our last boy (I swear) Mathew is now 1 year old, his favorite word is "cool" picked up from his older brothers!
My husband is a hard working man, says he is "muy serio", not much of a conversationalist, easygoing and mostly kind hearted, unless he is stressed out, then, I tell him, he lets the little things get the best of him...I know he would not survive a day alone in our house! |
