I am a pediatric nurse and have been separated from my husband (of 30 years) for most of the past 2-1/2 years. It was an emotionally abusive relationship, and I am working on recovering from that. My daughter is close to finishing a residential treatment program for troubled teens (drug & alcohol, truancy, sneaking out at night, blatent disregard for rules). I am looking for support in parenting when she comes home. |

My son is 21, married, going to school at community college, plans to transfer to 4 yr college next fall and major in history. Wants to teach high school or college. He is serious and can be irritable, faithful, enjoys climbing and survivalist activities.
My daughter is 17 and is mid way through sophomore year in high school at a residential program for troubled teens in Missouri. She is home on a visit now and will not keep the agreed on home contract. She has anxiety and ADHD, for which is has accepted help in the last 2 months. She has a long history of truancy and oppositional defiance and has been deceptive and sneaky. Drug of choice was THC, but also used alcohol and tobacco.
She has an outgoing personality and can come across as quite mature.
My husband and I have been separated for 2-1/2 years and he lives 12 hours drive away. He enabled our daughter and refused to see any problems for a long time. He still provides her with a pre-paid debit card, which allows her to use taxis and trade gasoline/other goods for drugs or transportation. |
