About Me
i am an optimistic person. i believe in the basic goodness of people. i believe that well-being is our natural state if we relax, and connect with our surroundings and with others, and most importantly, with ourselves. i would like to model these beliefs for my children, so that they can live in a world where they feel a sense of belonging, and where they will want to participate, and live life to the fullest. i don't have any expectations of the other members, but would enjoy meeting parents who share my style of non-authoritarian parenting. i think kids are basically treated like second-class citizens in our culture, and get bossed around a lot by well-meaning, but controlling ideas and methods. i would love for my kids to meet some other kids who are free in the day, and whose parents support a high ratio of play in their priorities for homeschooling.

About My Family
damon and i have been married for 11 years. we voted for obama, although we are disenchanted with the whole partisan politics game. we are turned off by racism, sexism, agism, classism, and other limited thinking, but we are not too serious or uptight. we have two boys, ages 6 and 9. they get along pretty well. they love to play! they get into their imaginations and go for hours. i try to interrupt that as little as possible. they adore snacks like pirates booty, juice, and lollipops. i get lots of real food in there too. the boys are very into selling lemonade, doing little jobs for money, counting the money, using their cash boxes, etc. they are immersed in this and are getting a handle on arithmetic. i read them chapter books, and they read the 1,2,3 step reader books. i do NOT push academics. no need to. they like to make "inventions" with various craft material, foil, art supplies, etc. they like to "fix" things too and walk around with their tool kits. they love to wear costumes too. the older one, wyatt, loves to cook. he can make pizza dough, tacos, nachos, cookies and more. we love the beach. spongebob, berenstain bears, and adventure time are their faves. damon works full-time in music publishing. he always makes time for his kids. he plays with them a lot. there is lots of "boy energy", but no emphasis on gender. damon is a sweetheart of a dad and great with kids in general. we love to cuddle a lot. we give them attention and play what they want to play. damon and i love to eat, have beer and wine, go to restaurants and movies when we can. we take the kids for mini-golf sometimes, and damon takes our older son to play nine holes sometimes. i love poetry; damon loves football. we both love meatballs and mob movies. we have no organized religion, but believe that we are all connected to source, or any word you want to use for the intelligent, creative life force that keeps it all happening.
