| I am obsessively clean, attending college, and a stay at home mom. My son was diagnosed with autism at age two. It is not severe but he does not talk, though he is trying, and he does not socialize well, but neither do I, LOL.I am looking to talk to someone who has their autistc child in speech and OT therapy. I want to find out more about how much it helps or not and how long some things have taken. |

| I only have the one child and he is the first and last. I told my husband before I had my tubes tied that if something did happen to him that we cannot improve perfection. He loves to group things together and carries them all over the house. Changes from week to week or so. It can be anything from colored bowl lids, to his little cars with eyes, he loves the movie CARS. He is not around other children much so when he is he does not know how to react. He tries to play with older children but younger children aggravate him. He does not understand why they are following him around everywhere.He minds very well for a three year old and understands almost everything I tell him, he just does not know how to let me know back. We have learned to communicate in other ways. He will hang out in his room or mine for sometimes an hour or so at a time just playing with whatever he may be grouping at the time. He likes to hold things to the light to check out how it is reflected, I guess. My husband is at work most of the day and wrestles with him when he gets home but my little boy does not know how to wrestle with other kids. He just lets them wrestle him but will not wrestle back. I think a good thing about autism is that they are able to hold on to their innocence longer than other children. |
