Hello I am a father figure to my girlfriends 3 children ages 6, 13 and 14. She works full-time and I primarily take care of the kids and the housework, but we are having problems with the 13 year old boy who just recently came to live with us after living with his father for several years and had no discipline and was treated very badly for lack of better terms, so I am seeking advice on how to deal with this situation as the 6 year old is feeding off the bad behavior. |

First there is Gaby 14, she is a straight A student and active in Volleyball and various social activities, she spends a lot of her time on the internet or the phone. Then there is Michael 13, not so good in school very defiant and immature for his age, spends most of his time playing video games and watching t.v. and then there is Mackinzie 6, who does well in school outside of some disciplinary problems, and does not like to listen at home or clean up after herself witch seems to be a full time job for me and her mother just cleaning up after her and trying to get her to listen. My girlfriend the children's mother is a GM for Arby's and works 50-60 hours a week has a tough time dealing with the children after working so much and not being home most of the time which leaves me the responsibility of taking care of the house and the children as I am currently unemployed but looking for work to no avail as it has to be flexible around her schedule, which causes more stress since unemployment only pays so much. |
