| I am a new mommy to an amazing set of twin boys named Joshua and Matthew. They were born at 29 weeks gestation (approx 7 1/2 months) on March 30, 2010. These boys are truly a miracle from God because not only was I told I could not have babies when I was 14, and I got pregnant at 23 but it was twins none the less. What really makes them shine is they were BOTH born at 11:53 am which is extremely rare. They are fighters because they were 10 weeks early and they came out screaming and only needing nasal canulas for oxygen support when they should have been on a vent. Shockingly they BOTH came home before their due date. Joshua (twin a) came come only a month after he was born and Matthew (twin b) came home 3 weeks later (almost a month before their due date).
Joshua is my happy healthy baby that I've called my little speed racer since he was only 2 days old and completely off oxygen. Matthew on the other hand is my "special" baby. He has several health issues and had a tougher time during my pregnancy and labor. He is diagnosed with obstructive apnea (he is on an apnea monitor), stridor, he was born with a minor brain bleed that resolved on its own along with a heart murmur that has also resolved. He has a hernia that sticks out of his belly button about an inch that his intestines have pushed out and his bowel painfully passes through it. We are also in the process of diagnosing him with a neurological disorder that is looking a lot like cerebal palsy but we arent sure yet.
My husband stood by my side 100% while they boys were in the NICU and even up until we got precious little Matthew home. He never wanted much to do with Matthew since the boys were born (and we gave Matthew my father-in-law's first name as his middle name). We had only had little Matty home from the NICU 4 days before I went in for surgery to get my tubes tied because I had such a tough pregnancy and just before they took me into the OR they came and gave me medication to relax me and I guess my husband thought I was too doped up to remember but he told me Matthew looked retarded and he couldnt stand him. That was the night I kicked my husband out. He had also tried to drown Matt in his formula by holding his head lower than his heart (Matt tends to asperate the formula into his lungs due to his apnea issues and he can easily drown in his formula and my husband knew this)...
My husband and I had only been married for 8 months when I kicked him out. We have honeymoon babies but since they were born so premature he ended up leaving 4 months before our anniversary.
Life is so much better with him gone, I just wish he cared about the boys. He has been kicked out since May and it is now almost September and he has not called, emailed, texted or anything to check on our sons. So I am a full time single mommy. Luckily I have the help of my amazing parents who fully support my sons and I and they allow me to be a stay at home mommy.
