| I'm an independent thinker and socially conscious. I could be more environmentally conscious, but I'm working on that. I'm a working mother, but my daughter is watched by my mom, so she is receiving consistent contact from the family. Art therapy is my profession, and I do this full time for a social service agency in my city. I would describe myself as socially liberal but economically conservative. I hope to be able to work toward staying home more with my daughter and work less, without it impacting my ability to continue living in the community in which I live. I hope that my daughter gets a well-rounded experience in the world, learning to love and appreciate all people, no matter what their race, national origin, religious affiliation, economic distinction, or sexual identification, and I hope that she decides to pursue a life that enriches her and makes her happy. My hope is, by using this site, I can make connections with other moms in my area with whom I can share ideas on parenting, perhaps having an opportunity for our children to spend time with each other to socialize, learn more about child development from other moms, and basically network. |

| I have an 8-month-old daughter. She is of mixed heritage (I'm mixed African-American, Irish, French, and German, and my husband is African-American, with some Scottish and Native American thrown in there). My daughter is a very independent girl, wanting to explore a lot on her own, but always wants to be close to either mommie or daddy. She understands a lot of what we say, and is able to communicate with some babbling, grunts, and body language. My daughter is a picky eater. She has reflux, so this may have an impact on her eating. She has great kinesthetic abilities and loves to climb and pull herself over everything. She loves veggies, but is not quite interested in much of anything sweet. She loves water, hates juice. My husband is very devoted to both of us. He does above and beyond what one would expect. He helps out with feedings, diapering, cleaning, etc. His a humorous man, who loves comic books, action movies, martial arts, and art. He makes a lot of toys for our little one out of felt. He's quite the "Rennaisance Man." |
