I am a mother to a "magical" 2 year old son who was born with a rare neurological disorder called Microcephaly. This blew my dream of "normal" motherhood out of the water and really changed my life. I am faced with new challenges everyday and I am struggling to get to a place where I can be okay with my situation. I love my son with every ounce of my soul and I want to give him the world. But, I also want more for myself and I want to find the person I once was. I am looking to find new friends who can try to understand where I am coming from and who can offer support and guidance. |

My 2 year old son, Sean, is amazing. He was born with a rare neurological disorder called Microcephaly which means "small head". I was told to terminate him when I was eight months pregnant because the doctors did not think he would walk or talk or even survive birth. After a bunch of soul searching, my husband and I agreed that if he was not meant to be with us then God would make that decision at birth, but at least I knew that I didnt end his life. Sean is doing wonderfully. He is walking and making strides everyday! He doesnt talk yet, but he definately knows how to communciate with us. He is alittle firecracker! He is super sociable and loves everyone. He loves animals, his favorite being my Mom's horse. Sean loves to play, go on walks, read books, make messes, take baths, and the list goes on and on. I also have a 8 year old step-daughter named Karlie. I met her when she was 1 1/2 so I have had many years to build a strong relationship with her. She calls me her "best friend" which I take great pride in. She is very smart and loves to dance and sing. She is very loud and bubbly. Her and Sean just light up when they see each other and she can make Sean laugh like no other!! My husband is the man of my dreams. I met him about 8 years ago and I was swept off my feet. He is a police officer and very dedicated to his job. His job is what defines him. Outside of his work, he loves sports, mainly baseball and is a big family man. |
