Creamy sauerkraut bratwurst topping
INGREDIENTS
-1 can (16 ounces) sauerkraut, well drained
-1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
-3/4 cup half-and-half
-1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
-1/2 cup thousand island dressing
-2 cup shredded swiss cheese (8 ounces)
INSTRUCTIONS
Makes: 18 servings (3 tablespoons each)
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 4 hr 35 min
1. Mix sauerkraut, onion, half-and-half, mayonnaise and dressing in 1.5 to 2.5 quart slow cooker
2. Cover and cook on Low heat setting 3 to 4 hours
3. Stir in cheese
4. Cover and cook about 15 minutes or until melted
5. Serve as a topping for bratwurst or as a spread for rye cocktail bread
6. Topping will hold on Low heat setting up to 2 hours; stir occasionally
