Hello all! I'm new to the group. I'm a 26 year old mother of an almost 2 year old little girl. My husband is in the Nassau County Police Academy. We are currently living with my parents while we are waiting to close on our house in Hicksville. I am the first of my group of friends to have a child, so it is difficult for them to relate to me and what my life entails now that I am a mom. I am looking to meet other moms in my area for play dates (for the kids and moms too!)

Welcome Dani! You're the first post in months (I just received an email notification) so don't expect to get too much response here. My husband is a police officer too, he works for the NYPD. He's trying to get into Suffolk though. We currently live in Amityville but are looking for a new apartment in the next month. I know how you feel about being the only mom in your group. I'm 24 with a 5 month girl and every one my age goes out partying and drinking all of the time. It;s very hard to find things in common. Are you a stay at home mom or do you work?

Hi Rosi! I work in Manhattan. So I really only see my daughter at night and on the weekends. By the time I get home during the week it's dinner time then bath then basically she goes down to bed so I see her for maybe 2 hours. Weekends are my only real time with her. Which is the biggest problem with my friends. They don't understand why I don't just get a babysitter and come out with them on the weekends. I want to spend every second with her that I can. My husband should be graduating the academy the middle of March which is exciting. It's been really hard on him.
