Hello, my name is Tara. I'm a stay at home mother of 2 boys, 7 and 3. We recently moved to Eugene from Portland and we'd love to make some new friends in the area. We had a wonderful experience making friends at playgroups in Portland and I'm hoping we can find a similar thing here in Eugene. I'd love to hear about any local playgroups or organizations you know about. Nice to meet you all :) |

Hello Tara! My name is Kellee, and I'm the mom of 1 boy who is 15 months old and am currently a stay at home mom. My husband and I moved here in June from Corvallis, but we also lived in Seattle for 8 years pre-baby. I'm still trying to find my way around this community, but here's what I've learned so far.... Library storytime occurs weekly; day and time depends on age of kid and location (check online). Bounce is a local gymnastics place for kids 18 months on up and it has open times for kids to go and free play. I hear Splash is a fun place for kids to swim around, and I think they have a wave pool and more. There are local indoor playgrounds you can join for all those rainy days. I think there is a MOMs group or two around for stay at home moms. The science factory has activities for kids at certain times during the month, and you can go there to browse anytime for a small fee. There are also usually monthly family events at the local community centers (ex: Peterson Barn). The malls also offer indoor play areas for kids. Well, that's about all I know so far, and many of those things I haven't even checked out yet because my son is younger and goes to bed early. Hope that helps a little, and good luck!
