Do they really save you money, or is it still more expensive than buying generic. I think for the most part, since you usually have to buy 2 or 3 of something to save 75 cents, it's not really worth it, unless you need that many anyway. Most times I end up spending more money when trying to save with coupons. What do you think? |

Hi Marcia!
I do use coupons, but I agree with the problems you describe. If we are attached to a certain brand (baby will eat Cheerios, but turns up his nose at the store brand, for example) then it is worth it to stock up on 2 or 3. I am always comparing to the store brands or even other brands that might be on sale just to be sure that the coupon is worth it. |

They certainly have changed the structure and intent of the coupons over the years to get peoploe to spend more.
But you can still save. this weekend my daughter cut ones for free hershey's choclate up to 2.99, so we all got a nice free bag and enjoyed it on a wonderful afternoon drive. |

I understand the attachment to brand names. In the earlier years I bought a cereal tupperware container (open on top & bottom for combining old & new cereal) then I just filled it with the store brand cherrios and they kids never new the difference, worked great with common types of cereals. |

We have a Walmart (of course) in our town and we also have a smaller chain called Homeland and they do double coupons for manufacture's coupons. So I am trying to get somethings there but you have to watch because some of their stuff can be more expensive and then there's no difference if you use the coupon there or somewhere where they don't double it. |
