The list of testing is: 1) Complete Male/Female Hormonal Evaluation - evaluating basic female hormones including pituitary, thyroid, adrenal, and ovarian hormones. These are important to understand possible ovulation disturbances as weII as heIping to make the right choice when it comes to the use of fertiIity drugs to cause super ovulation. Male hormonal evaluation is an important part of evaluation of sperm abnormality.
2) Endometrial Biopsy- Aspiration of a small sample of the uterine Iining which may indicate causes of infertiIity.
3) Hysterosalpingogram- An Xray testing of the uterine cavity and the tubes.
4) Vaginal Ultrasound- The study of the uterus and the ovaries where uterine abnormalities such as septum or fibroids as well as ovarian abnormalities such as cysts can be diagnosed.
5) Pap smear - A routine test performed once a year to screen for cervical cancer.
6) Bacteriological Screening- Culture of the cervix to screen for infections such as chiamydia, ureaplasma, and mycoplasma. These infections may cause infertility.
7) Chemistry Screening - As part of the evaluation, the patient's normal health, which is important, in preparation toward pregnancy.
8) Sperm Testing - Different studies of sperm are performed atthe Diamond Institute including computer sperm analysis where sperm quality as well as progression are being tested. Sperm survival tests, sperm fertilization potential, and antisperm antibodies are part of the evaluation of possible male factor infertility.
9) Testing of immunological infertility- testing the female for immunological factors that Interfere with embryo formation as weII as embryo Implantation are an Important part of the evaluation of Infertility. factors like lupus anticoagulant, anticardiollpin, and ANA may be a cause for impIantation faiIure and Infertility. Female anti-male antisperm antibody can play a similar role.
10) Laparoscopy- A same day surgical procedure where a scope is introduced through the umbilical button to evaluate the uterus and tubes. Possible causes of infertility in the female pelvis, Iike endometriosis or, tubal pelvic adhesions, can be diagnosed and treated.
11) Tuboscopy-Evaluation of the fallopian tubes using a fine scope into the tubes to evaluate possible causes of tubal damage which may cause infertility.
12) Hysteroscopy - A same day surgical procedure where a scope is introduced through the vagina and through the cervix into the uterus to diagnosis a problem in the uterine cavity which could cause infertility. Uterine septum, fibroids, scars, or polyps can be detected and fixed during the procedure.
