New to group and website
This is actually my first post...I am getting to know how this website works.

I am Lindsay a 28 year old stay at home mom of a 19 month old little boy named Trent. We live in Los Angeles County California. We like to do something every day to stay busy...storytime...paint time etc. I am kind of running out of Ideas maybe I can learn some here.

Hello Lindsay,

Doing things repeatedly is what helps the child learn and get better at what they are doing. As the child comes to know exactly what he is doing, then advance on it. Point at things around your house or when you go outside and say what they are. Your child may look as though he is not understanding you or interested, but he is. Play with picture cards, teach the ABC's and numbers every day. Dance even if you don't know. Children enjoy watching their parents dance and little by little they start to mimick you. It is also a great form of exercising, I do it all the time. My son loves it. The best part is just watching your child and making funny faces or something.

I let my son explore the technology I have, for example my computer, camera, cell phone, house phone. With him playing with these things, he actually became an expert in it. It's amazing how children learn so fast.

You'll know what to do and your child will hint you in on what he wants to do as well. It's hard to come up with things to do, but the child will not get bored if he's active.

I take my son to a dance class for his age, maybe there's things around your area that your child can do... there's a lot of info online. Just depends on what key words you use.

Oh my son loves to dance...ha ha. we dance in the morning...I didn't let him watch tv before but since he was about 17 months I started letting him watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse...We always dance to the songs on that and he is obsessed with the hot dog song. I started letting him watch handy manny a couple of weeks ago and sid the science kid...those are actually shows he loves. But that's all the tv he get's to watch. But that's just maybe 1 1/2 hrs in the morning while we are eating and getting ready for the day. Then after that We go outside...he loves to take things in and repeats everything I say...he points to stuff and tries to teach me what they are...He is extremely smart. We do flash cards at night and he is pretty good at them...Actually I need a new pack. He likes to learn more in the evening. When he is calming down. On wednesday I take him to the skate park...he absolutly loves it there they open at 3pm and I bought him a little skateboard of his own. On Tuesday we do story time. I just need monday and thursday things to do. I need to think of something different.
I know he's not bored...I think I am just getting a little stir crazy at home all day long. But I do want him to have interaction with other kids.

I would really love to find him dance or some sort of play time with other kids like you said. I can't find anything in my area. How would I go about finding something like that online.

There are cool things like average 18 miles away to 25 miles away from me for his age...but I really can't find anything close to me. The cities that surround me only have classes for over 2 years old and our city is like 3 or 4 years old. That is a little far for me to travel...I am hoping no more then 10 miles. away.

I just moved here from orange county, ca and there was MANY things to do...so many it was hard to chose from.

There's these websites, hope you find something:

http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/region/los-angeles-ca-usa
http://www.laokay.com/KidStuff.htm (scroll to bottom and there are options of places)

Not sure what key words I used, still trying to remember, when I remember I'll let you know. Wow, your child is really smart. That's great.

Have to rush out today, so I'll talk to you later.

Take care and hope the links above help.

Thank you for the info :)

My son loves mickey mouse and all of a sudden is COMPLETELY hooked on Caillou. I have never ever heard of that before but he is only quiet when that show is on. It's amazing.
