Changing Formulas
I have been told that you can switch formulas when your child turns 6 months. Does any one know if this is true? What would be some of the benefits or not in doing so?

Yes you can switch formulas. If the formula you switch to doesn't work for your baby go back to the original. Wait 3 days before you introduce them to something new, in case of an allergic reaction. May I suggest trying Nestle Supreme? It worked wonderful for my daughter, and she loved it. Target has a brand that is the exact same thing for like 14 bucks for a big can. I hope this helped.

my son is 2 so formula seems so long ago but YES u can change formula I did twice from reg to soy then back to reg. But make sure u give it a few days to check for a reaction. If u are still nervous just call your doc and ask them.

Does that mean you shouldn't change formulas before they're 6 months? We switched for a month from Similac Advance to Similac Allumentum in order to try and clear up colic. My pediatrician told me nothing about this 6 month rule and I'm a little concerned.

give my dtr SiImilac Advance once a day to supplement breast feeding and I take the Nestle jars of pre-made formula when we go out because they are easier. She seems to be OK with the changing around and her Dr never said it was a bad thing to do so. And I never heard the 6 mth rule either. Should I not switch around???

I have switched formula so many times since having my son, he is 2 mos old. His tastes changed from Similac to Enfamil, then we tried Goodstart...now we are back to Similac, I didnt notice any changes in his stool like everyone warned...I think the formula companies are so alike and they know mothers have to do this for various reasons. We did the 1/2 and 1/2 thing to not upset his system right away....maybe this will help....good luck.
