hello, i'm a new mom of a 7 week old little boy, max. we are new to winnipeg from the states and i was curious if there is anywhere groups of moms and babies get together so they can have play time?? trying to find some activities to get out of the house; i'm not use to this weather and we feel kinda trapped inside since we don't know many people. many thanks.

Hi, jayme. This is a pretty small group so far. You are only our third member! ;-) I am not sure what part of the city you are in, but there are a lot of programs around where I live that are free for moms and little ones. Also, the leisure guide has a section of post-pregnancy Mom 'n Me classes that you can pay to attend all over the city. You can pick up a Leisure Guide at your local public library. Another option is a Healthy Baby group. They are often called "Families Connecting" or something like that and are part of the Healthy Baby Manitoba initiative. They are free to attend, as well. You can go for a couple of hours one afternoon a week, and are held at a variety of locations. These are less of a playgroup, and a bit more like a mom discussion group. Topics rage from health and nutrition, to the ins and outs of life with a new baby. If you like, contact me with your general location (neighbourhood), and I can help you find one that is near you. Oh, and once Max is older, there are programs offered through the public library, too, but that would be for sometime down the road. Welcome to the city, Lisa

Hi Jayme! Love how you spell your name. My baby is almost 6 months old and I have a 5 year old. There are alot of winnipeg moms groups on the internet. I see that these messages are over a year old, but I just recently moved to St. Norbert and I am looking for moms to get together with, have coffee and chat. Also so our kids can play together. I am a stay at home mom to a 2 year old girl and a one month old boy.

I would love to get together and have some adult conversation during the day. I am flexible and have a car so I can drive to your area if that makes it easier.
