Ok, so my son's iron is low... mine is too... Liver is the highly reccomended. Never eaten nor cooked it before. I did a recipe search on foodnetwork.com, bettycrocker.com, and kraftfoodskitchen.com... not much luck.... does anyone know a good liver recipe?!?!?!

No but you can also get surces of iron from a Iron vitamin, or green vegtables. My daghter was told she had low iron and they gave her a Iron vitamin for about a month and then her iron was fine. Now she just takes a her flinstone vitamins, and eats more greens or even kidney beans she loves have alot of iron. |

I've always just had it fried w/ onions. I've "heard" butter and sugar instead of oil help take the "taste of liver" away, but I personally dont mind it & have never tried the butter & sugar. |

We used to eat a fair bit of liver when I was a little kid, and I don't think it's just my childhood tastebuds that will tell you that there's not much you can do to liver to make it tasty. But in the interest of answering your actual question, my mother fried it in butter with lots and lots of onions.
Making tomato sauce in a cast-iron skillet will get lots of iron into your sauce and will be much easier to get into your kids (and yourself). Also vitamin C helps with the absorption of iron so don't skimp on that. |
