Hi,
I'm new to this site. I have a 15 month old boy and one on the way. We're from the South Hills and looking for some other toddlers for my son to play with. Are there any current play groups running?

| truthfully we always set up play dates with other kids and then no one shows up so my children and Ii haven't been trying |

Hi Lauren and welcome to the group. South Hills is a bit of a haul for us to meet for playdates. I have to agree with Jessie though. I am the moderator of this group and I have tried and tried again to get interest in members to become more active both on and offline. I have met a few people for playdates but without any real success. I know there are others on here from the South Hills. I was hoping to get a chat night going but only one person showed interest. I have had success through other groups but none here. If you have any suggestions, feel free to put them out there, hopefully someone can come up with something.

What other groups have you had success with?
I am a SAHM and so couldn't do a chat at NIGHT because that is our family time, but I could do a chat during the day??
I am really looking for even one other mommy with small a small child/ren for my son to play with and for me to become friends with. All of my mommy friends work, so no play dates for my son, and I feel like I have noone to relate to. |

I have met some really good friends through a few different avenues. First I have been on CafeMom site and have actually connected with several local moms on there. I know that on the Pittsburgh Mom Group on CafeMom.com they have a playgroup that meets a lot in the South Hills. There is also your local MOMS Club. You can find a chapter near you on MOMS Club International site.....I think it is MOMSClubinternational.com, but I am not positive. I joined mine here and can't say that I have made best friends through them but I have made a lot of connections and know a lot more about the area. All of the woman are great, there are just a lot of us in our group. I actually am the secretary for our chapter and have really enjoyed it so far. There are dues that you have to pay that are $25/year. I have heard of several people meeting through MeetUp.com. I just never found a group that really fit me through there but I know several woman who have. I have three people through this site that I have become VERY good friends with. Also, you might want to check into MOPS, Moms of Preschoolers. Check your area library, our story hour has tons of Moms here that I would consider hanging out with, I just go to ours with two friends of mine already. Best of luck with finding a niche that you can fit into as a SAHM. I know how you feel. I have moved 5 times in the last 4 years and finding friends each time has been an adventure. I figure that no one knows that I am interested if I don't make it known. Moving so much has really made me quite less shy. If you need anything at all feel free to contact me. | Hi Lisa. Thank you so much for all of your advice. I actually did find a group on MeetUp.com that I think may work for us, but I just got an e-mail from the coordinator saying that the group is threatening to shut down. :::sigh::: I will definitely check out the sites you suggested and see what I can find. I see that you are from Mars, PA and I think that may be too far for playdates as you said, but I would love to chat online. |
