teething & breastfeeding
Hey guys, the time has come... Luke is almost 7 months and his first two teeth are coming in... ouch! Any suggestions on minimizing the biting that is going on during feeding times? I had to pump twice today because I could not take the biting of the nipples!

If he bites, take the nummy away. After a minute, if he is still hungry, let him try the other side. If he bites that side, take it away again. If he's still hungry, try the other side again. If you think he's not really hungry, take it away altogether and give him a teething toy or something else to chew on instead. My kids learned pretty quickly by my doing this that it is no fun to bite mommy.

My best suggestion is to tell him no when he does it. I did the same thing with my daughter she no longer bites and has 6 teeth. You have to teach them early that biting is not okay no matter what. Maybe a little tap on his mouth(very gently) when he bites will help in the reinforcement of telling him no, I also did that. He may frown at you but he gets the point. Goodluck!
