Can she sit up with help/alone?
Anything that makes noise (not to loud though) Anything that moves Anything with bright colors
something she can grab herself. but make sure anything she can put in her mouth is BPA FREE. Most Sassy Teethers are BPA and PVC free. Infantino is another REALLY safe brand. They have Euro Standards and are much higher for childrens toys than the United States. Another brand is Muchkin.
I only buy organic toys or Infantino.
Baby Einstein videos are great for that age too. My daughter would watch them from her bouncer with me for an hour at a time. The colors are vivid and the characters are puppets and toylike.

my daughter loved lights at that age...we did shadow puppets on the ceiling, turned on the party-disco lights, and played with her brother's glowsticks (i played with them while she watched) also, she loved music of any type...we jammed out to rock, disco, opera, you name it (she still loves all types of music) she also seemed to like it when we changed environments...we did tummy time in the kitchen instead of the living room...moved the rocking chair to the back porch to rock her for a nap, had lots of skin-to-skin contact (i breastfed so it was really easy) and baby massage with really good lotion or baby oil we put the baby einstien dvds on for her and moved her swing close to the tv also...she seemed to like the lights from the tv and the music...i sat with her and played with her toes and sang with the tv you are her best form of entertainment right now...she is learning all about being a human by watching you...best of luck |

Actually, scratch that. The most important thing you can do is entertain her yourself. Though toys are great, she will find YOU the most entertaining. Make noises, clap hands, be silly. Point to eyes and nose. Babies love mirrors too! Put babies hands and feet in water. Sing to her.
My little girl was read to since the day we took her home and has always made her quite happy.
Here's a link that might help:

Even though I gave you a Fisher Price link, stay away from their toys. They are filled with lead and BPA and sometimes PVC. They "meet all U.S. standards" but that doesn't mean anything GOOD.
When you call them and ask them about the lead or BPA, they do not tell you the amount, instead they say it is "propriatory" information, and that they meet standards. That means they DO contain those things. By the end of this year, most toy companies (execpt for fisher price, leap frog, and vtech) will be eliminating dangerous chemicals found in baby toys.
Like I said, stick with Infantino or yourself as a play toy!
good luck, this is a fun time with baby! |
