Is your toddler potty trained? At what age was he or she potty trained and how did you go about it? |

My boy/girl twins will be three next month and have absolutely no interest in using the potty. Daddy even tries to help by getting himself a new toy from the "bribe basket" (as only mommy and daddy call it), but they don't care. Guess we'll just try again later!!!! |

My daughter was 2 yrs when she was potty trained.. It only took me 4 days. I rented a movie from the video store and she watched it over and over again. She went around naked for those 4 days, since it was summer and we have tile floor. When she would go on the floor and run down her leg she just didn't like it and just started using the potty.. Just 4 days, couldn't believe it..
Now, my son is about to be 3 in a couple of days and he will sit on it every once in a while, but not everyday and not every week.. He like to sit on it before and after a bath. But, really not to intrested in it as my daughter is.. He thinks it is funny to pea in the corner and mark he territory. So, just trying but not trying too hard yet.. Maybe at the first of the year. They will learn when they want too. And I have been told boys just take longer. |

Suzanne, you are right that boys take longer than girls. My friends' daughters were using the potty at a younger age. My son was three years old when he finally was potty trained. I am told that sometimes boys take longer. I do not if anybody has this problem, but my son (3 years) somtimes wets the bed. I have a 15-month old son... and he won't be ready for at least few years!!

My son, 2 yrs old, is far from potty trained!!! He loves to sit on the potty but that is about as far as it goes. Monica, as for the bed wetting, my sister in law has this problem with her 4 year old. He is potty trained and has been for years, but just cannot seem to hold it in at night. They even wake him up before they go to bed (usually at midnight) and take him to the toilet but he still wakes up in the morning soaked sometimes. He is a normal, happy, well adjusted kid, he just seems to lack bladder control at night! |

My son is 2 1/2 and is starting to go pee in the potty. Poo is another story. It seems once he starts to get it and realizes no more diapers he just plain refuses. I think its more a maturity thing, he doesn't like the fact that using the potty means interrupting play. |

poo should always come last.. Pee is the first thing.. Poo sometimes freaks the kid out and then they just don't want to use it at all. So, with my son we are just pee in the potty for now and then once he gets that then we poo in the potty.. But, when he poo in the diaper we take the diaper to the potty and flush the poo down the toliet, so he associates it with the potty and where it should go. Did the samething with my daughter when she was potty training. She actually would go poo in the backyard like the dog for a few days, it was summer so, she was running around naked. Good story to tell her boyfriends when she is older.
My son is actually doing really good right now. He goes about 4-5 times a day and sits on the potty and I tell him to hold his penis down and he tries his hardest to go and he might just go a little but he does. He still goes in his diaper but, at least he is getting the concept down and we are getting the cool alert pull ups tomorrow on pay day. But, the only way I can get him to go into the bathroom and tell him "come on hurry hurry hurry we got to go potty" and then he goes with me and goes. Hey whatever works. Wish every one luck. Oh, and he just turned 3 yrs old december 28th. |
