You are doing everything you can for her. Something else though, if she does not like the teething rings, is to put a clean washclothe that is wet on the end in the freezer. After it freezes, let her chew on it. This will last until the tooth breaks though. Also, something my pedi told me I would like to pass on (actually both of my son's pedi's have told me this). Some people say that running a fever is part of teething. Both of them told me this is not true. They said that it is possible for it to go up a little, but anything that gets over 100 degrees is not teething and it means they have an infection as well. That does not mean you always have to take them to the dr, but it does mean that you should watch them for other signs of illness. I'm sure that some people will swear that their kids run a fever when teething. I wanted to pass on this info that my dr gave me though. One question I would ask though is if she might be miserable because of something else. I would recommend googling "teething" and doing some reading about it, that way you can get a lot of info and see what works for you. I believe it was Dr. Sears that said that teething does not last for weeks and months on end. People often mistake the signs of one thing for teething, when in fact, teething usually only last for a couple of days and then the tooth comes through. I honestly thought my son was teething from about 3 months on, but looking back, he did not get his first tooth until 9 months, so I think it was something else that was causing the symptoms, not his teeth. Hope this helps. |

What worked my daughter was Hyland's teething tablets. You can usually find them in the baby section of most stores. Walmart, CVS,etc They worked miracles for my daughter and other Mom's I have recommended them to have said the same thing. Try it! Good luck! Your daughter is not old enough yet, but I have always found Motrin to work better and longer than Tylenol, or alternating between the two. But try the tablets! |

I would suggest reading up on Hyland teething tablets before using them. I have read several reports of poisoning from Belladonna, a sedative in the tablet. According to the reports, they are generally safe, but there have been cases where to much belladonna was in a few tablets in a bottle here and there and it caused an overdose. Because these are considered homeopathic, they are not regulated by the FDA as medications such as Tylenol are. I have heard a few people rave about these, but I was not willing to take a chance with my son. His dr also told me I should avoid them. If you google 'hyland Teething Tablets" you can get alot of info on them. |

While I am not a doctor, here is the information I found on Hyland's. It is a personal choice for each parent to make. Good luck in whatever route you decide to take.

Yep! Tylenol and Hyland's tabs work wonders! Tylenol is better for bone pain according to my son's pedi. That's all I use and now my son has 10 teeth with another molar that just popped through a few days ago. Good luck! |

People are so weird sometimes when it comes to homeopathic stuff. You only have to worry about the idiots out there that give their kids overdoses. If you just follow the instructions and only give the prescribed amount your child will be fine. |

I used a homeopathic medicine called Camillia. I bought it at Whole Foods or you can buy it online. I couldn't give my son Tylenol because it would make him throw up, hence I only saved the Tylenol for high fevers. I started out on the Hyland's tablets but then a mom friend who is a pharmacist told me they can be a choking hazard for some kids (like my kid who would throw up anything the size of a pea). The Camilia was so gentle on my son's stomach and worked wonders (better even than the Tylenol). Not to mention it comes in these small vials, so you can take them everywhere.

I just wanted to point out that, in regards to the teething tablets, my point was not that they are toxic in general, but that there have been cases where a toxic amount of belladonna ended up in a couple of tablets. Those couple of tablets, as per the directions on the bottle, were given to a kid and that is how they overdosed. Generally, to overdose on these, you have to swallow something like 5 bottles. Granted, it is possible to overdose on regular medications like Tylenol or Ibuprofen, but if you follow the directions, the chance is lower because they are FDA regulated. I was not trying to bash anyone that uses them. I just wanted to give my opinion so that each person can research and decide for themselves if the risk is worth it. |

See? I didn't know that a toxic amount was found in 1 tablet. Thanks for the information Casey! |

NP. I used them for a bit and didn't know it either, but once I found out, I stopped. Considering they are not regulated, I am just not comfortable giving them to my son. |

Baby's Bliss Grip Water has ginger and fennel in it that is supposed to help ease stomach discomfort often associated with teething. I tried it myself for nausea and found that it helped relieve that. It's also not FDA approved, but it's worth a try if your baby is miserable. I bought it at a health food store. |

thank you all for the advice. I have tried the gripe water by little tummies and it worked amazingly well and I am much more comfortable giving it to her than the gas drops which seemed to do very little. I am happy to say my happy little girl is back today all giggles and smiles. I do believe she is still teething but seems to be doing much better today--its possible she had a bug or something but her dr has said not to worry as there was no fever. but thank you all again at least I knew i wasnt alone |
