Hey Ladies anyone else's child do this my son is 28 months old and it seems that he wants me too stay in his room while he falls asleep in his crib. I sit in the chair while he lays in the crib. He started this a few months back then he stopped but just resentlly cried that he wanted me to sit. I dont really mind cause as Im sitting I always say "laura it could be worse" ....so im wondering does anyone elses toddler do the same thing. PS ...If I try to get up he cries ....so it is easier jsut to sit for a bit til he fall asleeo Laura |

Hello, my daughter 14 months needs to lay with me in my bed until she falls asleep then I put her in her crib and she stays there for her nap, same thing at night. But sometime she wakes up once at night for a bottle if she is hungry. Like you said at least you get to sit and relax a bit. |

Hey Laura. My son is three and still does it. In fact, I not only have to stay with him until he falls asleep, I lay with him. I truly think it is a separation anxiety thing. I made the mistake of allowing him to sleep with me when he was a infant, and now he can't fall asleep without me. I have a five month old, who I do not allow to sleep with me. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Don't give up though, I am still working on it. |

Hey Laura. I have managed to get them both to nap at the same time in the afternoon. Totally amazing, I might add. They are actually napping right now at the same time. If it so happens my 5 month old isn't napping at the same time, I usually put him in a swing in his room, which is right next to my 3yr. olds, until the other falls asleep. Sometimes it is a chore. Today, actually, my three year old, his name is Logan, went to sleep on his own. It is hard though, he cries and screams for me, and says he is scared. It makes me sad, but I know he will be ok. |

My 3 year old will not go to sleep on his own either. I have to pat his back until he falls asleep. This takes place in the living room and ince he falls asleep I put him in his bed. My 2 year old on the other hand falls asleep all by himself! I hope one day that my 3 year old can do the same thing lol |

Laura, my son is 24 months old and has always been a wonderful sleeper...When he was about 19 months old he went through about two-weeks of screaming at bed time, and nap time...It was really a shocker to all of us. I stopped him suddenly by playing a game with him...I would hold onto his blankie and pretend that I wanted to borow it..I would start to step out while he was creaming, and say, "Ethan, mommy will borrow your blankie, cause you're not using it...He stopped crying and looked at me like I was crazy...and said no! Then grabbed it from me and cuddled it in his bed...I did this everytime he started to cry and it stopped him, he just went to be laughing...Can I ask, is your son still in a crib or toddler bed? Your post seems to state crib, perhaps he's ready for a toddler bed? |

yes she does like me to sit by her bed,and yes go ahead and give him a bed. If you have a transitional crib like i did just turn it into a day bed it will be cribbie he'll like it, and it will help with potty training because he can get up on his own. |

I agree with Johnee...Converting my sons bed was a huge deal! He thought he was such a big boy! He was able to get in and out...He would climb in and sit there and read...he would take some toys in there and hang out...Pretty cute! |
