Give her some time. Kids are much better able to handle these things than parents often give them credit for. A couple more nights and she will probably be fine. You could try giving her some other type of security object to sleep with, such as a stuffed animal. giving the binkie back now will only make it harder the next time you try to take it away. Hang in there, it will get easier. |

I agree with Marcia. Hang in there. Our daughter is 14 months old and we sacrificed the binky Memorial weekend at night time (it took a week longer for nap time), but now there are some things changing in our household and she seems to want it back. We have rental property so when my husband gets home from work I go there and work. She's not used to me being gone in the evenings like that. She's been waking up at night and crying. She has a "ducky" (it's a flat duck that she sleeps on top of), but even he didn't seem to work. I had to sit in the recliner with her and let her sleep on me for about an hour before she would go back to bed. Anyway, my point is...hang in there. It will be well worth it in the long run. You don't want to have to start over with the binky sacrifice! The older they are the harder it is. |

Well she seemed fine with it, and she is not waking up asking for it, she just wakes up crying. She does have an animal that she carries around all the time, her puppy she calls it. She has three of them, I won't get up and rock her because I don't want to be awake longer then I have too, and then start having her be rocked to sleep. I am hoping tonight goes better. If my son woke up every two hours like a new born does I would be fine, but we are blessed with a baby that sleeps through the night. So wish me luck for tonight oh and nap time today! |

This topic just came up in my mom's group. According to the latest research (sorry, I don't remember the exact source) it take minimum of 10 day to introducing a new bedtime routine. Hang in there. |

Wow, when we got rid of ours (Matt was about 6 months old) I wasn't sure it's good choice but now I'm totally happy we did it. But he'd never really liked it or needed it. But will keep my thumbs up for You. Luckily kids are better able to adapt than we usually think so there should be improvement really quickly. |

Wow 10 days uhh? I'm eager to find out how it works out. My son is 18 months old and I am ready to say bye bye to the binkie too, he only uses it at night or nap time. I talked to his pediatrician and she said to get rid of it when we get back from our vacation beacause he will have to readapt to his normal routines and that would be the easiest time to do it. I hope it all works out good and keep me posted please so I know what I'm in for. LOL GOOD LUCK : ) |

well so far tonight it has been great! So I think we made the right choice. I did not think it was gonna work seeming we have a 2 and half month old baby! But she is fine with her brother. She has been telling people that the binkie fairy came and brought the binkies to the babies! So she knows they are gone, and has been great! Just hoping for a better night! |

I'm so glad for you, Jeanette. See, often these things are more difficult for parents than for children. |

My doctor said to repalce it with a stuff animal. She said to take him to the store and let him pick it out. Well he picked out two but he sleeps with them and his favorite blanket. he named his dogs, bob (after grandpa) and guy,I don't know where he got that one from. It took a week but he soon got over is binky. But don't forget the stuffed animal or the world will end. Good Luck, Karolyn |
