Hi,
I am a stay at home mom in the Washington area near portland. We just moved here a few months ago and I have a 5 month almost 6 month old daughter. I have joined the MOMS club in the local area, but I find it hard to connect with the other mom's. There is usually a lot of commotion going on and it seems people kind of have their own clicks going on. I also have to say that it takes me time to warm up to people. They have lots of events going on but they are more for toddlers than my daughter. Its also hard because my husband and I have one car so I can't make some of the meetings. Has anyone else encountered this kind of problem? |

I really think this is a very common issue. All I can say is just keep going and evidentually you won't feel like you don't belong. |

Thanks. I plan on trying to go to a few more events with the group in hopes of making some close friends. Its just hard when I am not able to go all the time because we only have one car, but once my husband goes to his normal shift starting in January I should be able to go more events. Its just also hard since my daughter is so young and the events are not really for her age group. Once she gets older and can enjoy the events more it will be better I am hoping. I also find that I try to start conversations with the mom's but they don't seem to go anywhere. Meeting new people and making new friends is so hard. |

When I first had my son, I was walking the mall with him and ran into a Stroller Strides group. They met three times a week to exercise around the mall. I met a lot of new moms I connected with and we weren't all constantly distracted by our kids. It's worth checking out. The first meetup if free!
