Pumping-The second job
Hi, one of the things i look forward to is nursing my baby. Its a time for us to bond and settle down from a busy day. However, since he is now about five months old, of course he is eating more. Which means I have to pump more. I already pump about five ounces, four times a day, every day. He needs milk for day care, and at times if I have to make a run and he is with me, then I will have to pump extra for him. Sometimes I have to wake up at 3:00am just so he will have enough milk, and I have to leave work because I have to drop off another bottle at his day care. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can manage this differently. I'm exhausted!

You could try to pump as often as possible when you are not at work. Try to get ahead of your son. The more often you pump, the more milk you will make. Breast milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours, or frozen for 3 months. If you get a little ahead of your son you will be able to get back on a schedule that works for you and maybe even skip the 3:00 am one. Also, if you are not opposed, you could supplement with a little formula. I did this and it made all the difference.
