Hello, my name is Annette, and my husband is a Portland, Oregon Police Officer. He works graveyard shift. Does anybody eles have a spouse that works graveyard?? I have trouble putting our daughter down when he is at work. He leaves at 8pm because his shift is from 10 pm to 8 am. |

Hello Annette. My name is Melanie. My husband works nights, 10hour shifts +OT, 5days on 5off, 2on 2off. It can be very challenging, you feel like a single mom from time to time. Thankfully my kids go to bed without trouble. Have you tried having your husband help with the bedtime routine before he leaves? Even if he just reads her a story. Or if she goes to bed later than 7:30-8:00, you could try putting a picture of daddy in her room to kiss goodnight before you lay her down, make it a ritual. Well I hope this helps and things get better for you. Take care, talk to you soon. |

well my hubby(who works in IT) use to work graveyard back before we had our son...mainly because he got paid extra to work it and I was on his schedule so we got to see each other and spend time together...BUT now he works day shift, well I guess you can call it swing shift cause he goes in at 11am and gets off at 7pm...he gets to spend 1 1/2 hrs with our son before he goes to work and 2hrs after he gets home...and those 3 1/2 hrs are all him(except when we are eating dinner)
Its not easy but its worth it if you get paid extra for graveyard |

Hi Annette! My name is Tiffany and my hubby has worked graveyard as well. My girls have not really had troubles with bed time. The thing that I hatted was how their first day off was spent sleeping or being really grouchy! Right now he works 4-2 wich isn't quite as bad. He just sleeps a little later in the morning but not all day. You must live a good distance away since he leaves so early to get to work. My husband used to work about an hour away from our house and he would always leave 1 1/2 to 2 hours early. That stunk as well. Have you always lived in Oregon? Just wondering since my husband was raised in Oregon |
