my 16 1/2 month old daughter took a little longer to transfer directly from the bottle to the sippy. She'd drink juice & water from a sippy but milk only from a bottle. I put my foot down at her 15 mth mark & the doctor said she'd refuse milk for a few days then realize she wanted it & take it. Done that over. She didn't drink her milk for almost a wk but then came around. Now new dilemma. after a few wks she stopped drinking her milk all together & I refused to go back to the bottle. After a whole wk with no milk I broke down & started adding strawberry nesquick (less sugar), my plan was to gradually reduce the amount I was putting in. Now she won't take reg. milk! Only flavored & when I don't put enough flavor the bugger hands it back to me & won't drink it!! What do I do now?? I can't have her not drinking milk all together!! |

I have a very headstrong 2 year old. While we have never really had this problem, my suggestion would be to only offer her reg. milk or water, nothing else. I would make sure she is getting enough fruits by giving her a fresh fruit with each meal, and give her things like cheese so she gets her calcium in too. Other than that only milk and water to drink. She will eventually get the point about who is boss just as long as you are consistent. Being consistent is hard to do, but in the end it really works! Good luck! |

Thanks I've thought about doing that too. the thing is I'll probably waste ALOT of milk cause you can only keep it out so long. She gets plenty of fruits & she loves her cheese sticks so I guess I'll go with that. Thanks for you're suggestion |

I have the same problem with my daughter, she won't drink milk. Not even when I've tried to flavor it!
I just push yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese. Yogurt is my favorite choice for her because it has a very high calcium content, and also it has the beneficial bacteria that's good for the gut. |

Even if it is flavored milk it still has the vitamins and calcuim that she needs. So, flavored milk is just a good for her. At least that is what our Dr. told us...
I have the oppisite problem, my son will only drink milk.. |

Thats funny, I am a serious milk drinker myself! I've decided to start watering down her juice again like before because I've realized she's not drinking plain water. Which she's never really liked anyway. She always has fresh fruits with her Breakfast & veggies with her meals & @ least 1 yogurt a day as a snack & loves her chz sticks. I'm cutting back on the amount of flavor but sometimes that backfires. I know she's healthy & once the flavor runs out I won't buy anymore & really try to be stern about getting her to drink reg milk. I appreciate all your advise, thanx. |

I love milk, but it has to be skim or it is just to thick for me. I always crave it when I am about to be on my period. I drink it like crazy then. |
