21 Months ago I got the coolest thing ever - my daughter was born.
I had been a busy working woman - wanting a baby - but once I made the decision to transition to a stay at home mama, I was literally lost. I knew what time too many shows were on, and I was isolated.
Then I found the Library's Tiny Tots story time on Tuesdays at 10:30 and the Rec Center's Infant and Toddler swim on Tues and Thursdays. I never missed one of those. When my peanut was 9 months old, I met two other mamas at story time who were in agreement that something needed to be started outside of these existing things to meet a need - a place where mamas could sit and chat and have a hot drink and babies and toddlers could get some kid to kid interaction.
Thus the Mama Meetup was founded. After finding many non-kid friendly places for this event, we finally came to The Link - a teen center by night, but on Wednesday Mornings from 10-noon it is a full fledged meetup. There is free hot coffee for the parents, and a gym for the babies to run around in, scream, jump, and play.
The parents who come to this (yep, there are some daddys too) are really great, nice, and welcoming. The group keeps growing and we are always trying to reach out to those stay at home parents to get them linked up!
This group has absolutely no association to any group or church. It is just a group of parents who have found each other and who enjoy meeting up once a week.
I really hope you consider coming. We never miss a Wednesday!
