Need to Vent Group
Public online group

Play groups
I am sorry!!!! I am fairly new to my area (Atlanta) i have no family and no friends. So i found this web site and i think that it is great. hwever there were no playgroups in my area....so i started my own. i worked at it and we now have 20 "members". All of these people have said that they are looking to get out of the house not only for themselves but so there children can play. i spend a decent amount of time searching the internet for fun things to do. I know with the economy it is hard. so i try to pick things that are free (park) or things that are inexpensive (under $10). I have also suggested (alot) that the other mothers post there own ideas and play dates. What i don't understand is hw i can have 2 - 3 events per month and one other mom(always the same mom) and myself are ALWAYS the only ones to go?! DON"T JOIN A PLAY GROUP IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO ANY OF THE EVENTS!!!!!!! i have been doing this for 9 months....so i have given a lot of time. i just dn't know what to do. This is the Vent group and thats what i am doing. i am sorry if anyone reading this is in my play group....if you are, can you please start coming to play dates so i am not the only one there all the time!! what can i do?

aww I miss GA...I'm originally from Perry and i am so homesick. I just joined a playgroup and the same thing is happening..and when our in charge lady suggested we pay her $1 a month to help with the charge on meetup.com we had people quit. It's so sad.

Oh my God!!! i would never ask for anyone to pay. i just don't get it. i talk to so many moms that are desparate for friends and a chance to get out...and yet when confronted with the opportunity, they chicken out. i don't know!

i there.. not in your area but am one of those mommies you are complaining about.. I joined a few playgroups in my area.. one of them was really good for me and so i attended some of the meetups... then i had problems to deal with from running back and forth to Nyc from PA to working on a house i am flipping here in PA to older child after school activities... To the moderator of the other group.. I can truly understand your effort involve in preparing information for your group and of course the disappointments too when mommies liek me dont show up, there are reasons though and they may or maynot be geared toward the actual group.... one group i was apart of disassembled because of personal attacks ont he moderator by another moderator and also a member here and there... that one disappointed me... Just for the record.. I did join the groups so that my son has interactive play with other children and so that i could meet other mommies like me.. Of course I am a mother in her 40's so i havent met anotehr mommy like me but my son has met children he likes and i happen to like the mommies...

Oh don't get me wrong, i compleatly understand that things happen....i am the queen of craping coming up at th last minute. i am just up set that i have 20 members and i have only met one of them - and she lives next door to me. its not like some of them come and some of them don't...they hve never come. At least you showed up to a few of the events.

See and i get frustrated.im the one who posted tacoma parents? a few days ago.thats a actual group i signed up for and no one talks or meets.i dont get it.i even volunteered to help.yet no response!and theres 40 of us in this group.im thinking about going to each and every member to send a message just to at least start conversation! if your a moderator then moderate the group or take it off this site.people like me are wanting to be actively involved.so i dont blame you one bit for getting mad at the other 20 moms! if they never come.then they should say something at least let u know. hey at least u no your neighbor is dedicated! lol

I look at it this way.. you have one good friend you met from your group.. maybe now is the time to use both minds to come up with ideas to get more mommies involved.... forget
the 20 focus on regrouping you shouldnt let those mommies get you this way...you have the desire and the determination to do what your heart is telling you to do.. keep going
