| My husband heard something at his work from another women who went to a LLL meeting and she said they were passing their children around and letting other women breastfeed their child. This seems so far fetched I thought it couldn't be possible, is this true, has anyone else heard of this? |

| This is definitely a myth. While breastfeeding is highly thought of in LLL, no woman would let another woman nurse her child! Some women in LLL are VERY into breastfeeding and talk about it a lot, which makes people uncomfortable & leads to silly rumors like this one. |

WOW. LLL has gotten some bad press in the past but this goes beyond... I've been to a couple meetings and they would be just as appalled as you are to hear something like this... yikes!
LLL is around to help breastfeeding moms learn to do the thing that is the most natural in the world... the thing that somehow has become "perverse" because of the place the female body has in our culture.
There is now finally a movement in the country back towards breastfeeding which we are all grateful for, I'm sure, however, there is still a lot of bad information out there... and a lot of rumors and ignorance being passed around about it. It's terrible, but still true... |
