Pet Food Bowls and Doggie Doors
I'm reaching out to mom's with pets and welcome any clever solutions for the dog's water and food bowls. Katie is not crawling yet, but she soon will be! Our dog is a sweetie. She stays inside most of the time, and she has a doggie door to the back patio and yard.... another big issue.... the doggie door is off the main family room and is low enough and big enough for a baby to go through!!

Not sure how your house is situated, but our doggie door and food/water bowls are in the laundry room. We keep a baby gate up at all times. We just got a pool, so our doggie door is permanently screwed shut. It is a pain in the butt, but we have to actually let our dog outside when we think she wants to go out. When she eats, we have to let her in the baby gate and then let her out when she's finished so she can come hang out with us. It is definitely a big change because for years and years she's had the personal freedom to come and go as she pleases...but, baby comes first. Hopes this helps a bit.

Oh, just read your post again...your door is off the main room. You probably do not have a door frame for a typical baby gate. However, they do make baby gates that are U-shaped to keep your baby from getting to the door, but you'll still have to either read your dog's signs, or just let her out when you feel necessary. The coming back in part is easy; she just sits at the door and waits for us to open it.
