My husband says that's true. Our older ones (my steps) are in their twenties, and he says things are entirely different this time around. At this point in our lives (we are mid forties), there is just nothing else in the world we would rather do than sit around and watch her every move. We just have to take care not to spoil her silly. |

I'd agree with both of you! I'm 40, with a 14 year old son & 16 month old daughter...I am a different mom than I was then. I've been married 17 years, hubby & I are a different couple than we were then too! I think for us, we feel like we get to continue the "family" thing for awhile longer. Some of my friends say the strangest things to us about having her...But we are happy, & she is the light of all three of our lives! |

WHAT KIND OF STRANGE THINGS DO PEOPLE SAY TO YOU ? I'M JUST WONDERING ~ PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK ONE OF MY OLDER DAUGHTERS IS HER MOTHER & PEOPLE ALWAYS WONDER IF I'M THE GRANDMA. |

Well, some say they think we're crazy, some go as far as to say they would kill themselves if they had to start over again, etc. Most figure I have a new boyfriend I havent gotten the grandma thing yet, no offense, but I'm hoping I dont for awhile! My boy is only 14! I dont care what they say, I take it in stride... |

Hi folks, I just found this site tonight looking for play groups in my area. I'm thrilled to find this group for older parents! I am 42 and have a 24, 20, 3, and 2 year old :) It is much different this time than it was with the older two. Of course there are many reasons for that, but I am really enjoying being a mom 'again'. I don't know how active this group is, but I sure hope someone is still around to talk to! |

Had to throw in my funny experience regarding comments about age... I had my daughter at age 45. When I was pregnant I had to go for the "sugar test" because my blood sugar was high. While in the waiting room (the testing takes HOURS and multiple blood draws) a couple of older ladies sitting across from me were "tsk tsk-ing" about one of their relatives...apparently this wayward gal had the nerve to become pregnant at the ripe old age of 34, and the ladies were all aghast over the situation. How would she EVER do it? She's too old to be having a baby!! I had to just sit there and laugh to myself, and looking back I wish I would have gotten up and strolled over to them and announced my age! :-D |
