Cosleeping Babywearing Breastfeeding |

Just doing the introduction post...I haven't been able to meet parents "like me" locally, so I'm hoping to do so online and I'm also interested to find out if there's particular areas of the country that are more conducive for cosleeping, babywearing, breastfeeding since a move for our family is possible in the future. I'm a first time mother to 7 month old Emma who is still exclusively breastfed. I did not return to work in favor of breastfeeding and being with my daughter hopefully for the first 2 to 5 years of her life if at all possible. My husband is a heavy equipment operator and we have a lot of debt, so I sure hope we can continue to find ways to make it work financially. Emma is getting a bit heavy for baby-wearing at 25.8 pounds, but I still do it anyhow, e.g. when vaccuuming my mother's B&B and taking the dog for hikes. I don't find much time to post online, but perhaps this site will do the trick! |

Hi Charissa, Where in the country are you? I'm in St. Louis. My daughter is 17months, and she is still breastfeeding -- she was exclusive until 8.5mo when she started on solids. She's actually eating an apple all by herself right now -- a whole apple. She looks kinda silly and the apple goes rolling across the room every now and again ... but she's totally into it. She won't eat it cut up ... and she actually climbed into the fridge and grabbed it herself. Crazy kid. Anywho, a big welcome to you and emma, Angie |

Thank you Angie, how cute! I am in northeast Pennsylvania right on the NJ border. I love St. Louis--my older brothers were both born there and went to bording school there. My mom has a lot of good friends there still. So great you breastfed exclusively until 8.5 months. Very cute story with the apple! That sounds like something Emma may do once she's older...lol. |

Hi Charissa! I just joined this group today.
I'm from the other side of PA- near Pittsburgh. I hope that you can find the support and friends you're looking for online! I know what you mean about not meeting like-minded parents IRL. |
