My son has had a red growth under his eye since he was about a month old. He's now almost 4 months and it has gotten bigger. (Prob 3 times it's original size!) My doctor is worried but isn't really sure what it is. It's starting to obstruct his vision and I don't like that. We are going to his new doctor for a second look on Wed. but I've never seen anything like it and even though it will prob have to be removed I am really scared about my baby having surgery! Has anyone else ever seen or had a similar problem. You can sort of see it on my profile pic but it's not a close up so it's kinda hard. Help! |

my cousins son had something like that but it was on his wrist and they had it removed and for a while you could see a scar but now at almost 9yrs you can't see it at all...I'm not sure what it was but it was a very simple thing, none of the family knew he was having it done until it was gone. |

Hi Tiffany, My son had a salvary cist in his mouth and had it removed when he was 7 months old.. They usually wait till they're at least 6 months old before they put the baby to sleep for surgery. My son came out fine, even tho I was a nervous reck. Best thing to do is get it looked at by a specialist. He'll be fine, just have someone with you when he's in there to support YOU! |

I know that your son having surgery is very very scary. My son, now 1, has had to have 2 surgeries already. His first was at 6 months, and the second was at 9 months. I was told by several doctors that putting them under anesthesia was not a very good idea before 6 months, so if it were me I would wait at least untill then. My son's issues were nothing like yours, but at least I can maybe help make you feel better about the surgery. I know that if I had someone talking to me through it would have helped. My son is perfectly fine now and he came through both surgeries with no trouble. They bounce back so fast. You should keep me posted on this and I will help anyway I can just to help calm the nerves. But I will pray for him and would like to know what happens. |

Thank you all for your support and prayers! I go to the doctors with him today so hopefully we can at least discover what it is. I am nervous, but am thankful that I have other moms here who understand what I'm going through. It makes it so much better. |

Well, we are being sent to a dermatologist now so hopefully we will get the problem taken care of. |

That sounds like it is the best option right now. Keep us posted on what happens. |

Tiffany, I have two kids and 3 yr girl and 3 mo boy. My daughter had surgery when she was about a yr old. We had less then 5 hours notice that she might have surgery and about 5 min notice that she was acturally going to have it.I didn't even meet the surgian until she was taken to the operating room and I went with her. I know how nerve racking it is. I had no time to prepare for it or accept the idea of it. She came out just fine with no complications. If it turns out that your son has to have sugery then demand that you be with him until right before they but in under anestia and be there before they wake him up so when they do you are the first one he sees. They let me be there and it made the whole thing easier on her. |
