Hi, my name is Danielle. I have a 2 yr old daughter and I stay at home with her. She will be three in Jan. We live in a small town. Unfortunatly there are no play groups that I know of. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? The things for me to do with my daughter are: going to the library, taking her to the McDonald's playground, and to wal-mart. We have a somewhat tight budget for now so It's hard to do things with her that cost a lot of money. She has no playmates as of now, because we know noone out here. Any advice??? |

I feel your pain..LOL I also am new here, and live in a small town. The libary and the one McDonald's in 30 mile's is are play time.We have some parks but, their not geared to toddlers. My 6 yr old has no issues with them but, my 2 yr does.I too am having a very hard time finding play groups. The good thing about where I live is we have the beach 15 miles from us and lots of state parks.(we have to drive 40-50 miles to get to them) but,its a fun day trip.I put up a flyer at the Libary asking any moms with toddlers to give me a call if wanting to start a group.I've gotten 2 calls and were going to meet this week. So maybe that might be something you can try.Good Luck!! |

Thank you for your response. I never thought of posting something at the library. That's a great idea. The only thing I'm worried about is weirdos. How would I avoid that? By the way your kids are adorable! Thanks again!!! |

Have you looked at www.meetup.com or even under groups on Craigs list?

Hey girl, have you tried cafemom.com and then look for playgroups in your area. Hope this helps!

I will keep the mcrossed for you. Thank you soooo much for the advice. I will post at the library. I take Haley there 1-2 times a week.I haven't noticed a bulliten board. I will ask though. As far as reading groups or movie days there, I think that they only do story time in the summer. |

Well were to start...We had the playgroup about 3 kids and my 2 yr old.We met at the park and just let them run.All and all I think it went pretty good, except for the gimme gimmes with the juice cups and a couple of shy moments.Of course there was the incedent with the biteing but she went home after that.LOL I don't know if her and her mom will come back.I told her it happens and none of the kids were hurt, but the other parents wer'nt as understanding.Wich kinda peeved me cause you know if the shoe was on the other foot they would have been embaressed as well.I think every parent at some point or another has to deal with their kids eather biteing, hiting. shoving ect...Anyways over all it went pretty good. Were gonna try for Monday next week.I hope the other mom comes back.Have a Great Halloween. |

I truely feel for you. I have just moved to the US from Germany and have nobody I know close by. I was active in Moms groups where we used to live and am really missing my social interaction now. Women, and especially SHM's, need girlfriends to chat and exchange with about anything and everything. A new site I have just found and that seems like a nice place to start is www.girlfriendscafe.com Try there and best of luck to you!!! |
