Hello, I have a 21 month old son whom is a very picky eater. He use to love his vegetables and meat. Now he will spit them out when he eats them or throw them on the floor. All he wants to eat is pasta, crackers, cookies, fruit, cereal, and the only meat he'll eat is bacon. Sometimes when he eats he'll only take a few bits. I'm worried that he won't get all the nutrients he need to grow and be healthy. I was wondering if there were any creative ways to prepare his food to make it seem more interesting to him or any other suggestions? |

there is a book "first years mealsl" and it has recipes and pictures of the dishes presented to the kids in a funny way. For example the brocolli would be a clown hais, the carrots the nose or mouth, peas as the eyes, etc. crackers the body of a snail, olives as the eyes, cucumbers as the antenas. etc. Like that there are chicken sadwich, meat sandwich, with veggies in the shape of something, even trains and trucks. Sound like playing with the food, but if that gets him to eat it is worth it. |

both my kids 2 yrs and 8 yrs go through times like this.. My daughter right now 8 yrs old will only eat pizza (just started eating canadian bacon pizza), frozen enchilada meals (and cheese enchilada's from a mexican food place, tostada's, bean and cheese burritos, bean and cheese nacho's, out to eat cheese enchilada's, buttered spagetti, chicken nuggets, baked chicken, long john silvers fish, catfish, turkey sandwhiches, peanut butter sandwhich (just started that), cheese quesidilla's (home made or from resturant), mexican rice with peas corn and carrots, french fries, tater tots, cheese fries, cheese tots with bacon, bacon, hash browns, mac and cheese (boxed or home made). hot dogs (just started that), corny dogs, fried chicken, fried chicken sandwhich (just meat and bread), beef taquito's, roast (but only my mom's), spagetti o's. scrambled eggs, breakfast burrito with beans cheese and potatoes. cereal, though without milk. butter toast, butter biscuits, dorito's, ruffles, and cheeto's (her first finger food, due to grandma), milk shakes, ice cream sundaes, sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, ice cream sandwhiches, will only drink milk at school, ranch dressing,
my son right now will eat the following: breakfast sausage patties, pancakes with syrup and butter, scrambled eggs, ramen noodles (his favorite), hormel mac and cheese in the tub (groooooose to me), hormel chicken and rice in the tub, chicken tenders, fried chicken, french fries, bean and cheese burrito's, mexican rice (same as sister), pizza (any kind), refried beans, biscuits and gravy, cereal with milk, ice cream, rice crispy treats, ruffles, milk shakes, ice cream sundaes, ice cream sandwhiches, milk, coke, tea, v8 splash, roast, taquito's, french bread, bacon, hash brown.
and that is about it right now.. though my son is in a ramen noodle thing right now.. every meal he wants it, he won't eat anything else.. He did the samething a month ago with the hormel mac and cheese. |

Suzanne, Not to criticize what type of food you give to your boy and little girl but be careful with the hormel food, and other ready to eat product, they are way high in sodium and chemicals which slow the brain development in children. It is best organic type of meals which you can find them in the frozen section. I will try to stick with organic as long as I can. |
