Teething
Hi all! My twin girls are 2 mos. old and are blowing some mad bubbles and drooling slightly when they aren't chewing on their hands. Someone told me that they were teething. Is that possible?

I would say they are my lil boy has been doing the same thing since he was 2 months, it may be 4-5 months before they get a tooth though that is depending on the child every child is different, my husbands boss's kid got a tooth at 6 months he said but you never know.I wouldn't worry about it, it is exciting but just enjoy them while they are small because you blink and they are already 7 months and have grown so much.

Hi Heather,

My son was doing the same thing and he is six months old and still no teeth. I thought he was teething also, but then I read that this is just part of their oral stage and has nothing to do with teething. When they get a little older and the drooling is accompanied by crankiness, sometimes a fever, and swollen gums then it is probably teething. It is hard to tell because at this age they will get cranky sometimes because they don't have the fine motor skills to get their hand or an object to their mouth everytime they want to. Good luck with everything!

My daughter got her first 2 bottom teeth by 5 1/2 months but did a lot of drooling and teething behavior before that. Then she got nothing for months and always seemed to be teething before the next ones popped through finally. Seems like they can teeth forever sometimes before you actually see anything.

Most likely it is teething heather. My son did that also and he got his first tooth at FOUR months to our amazment. So have no fear it is normal.

My son did the samer thing around two or three months. But he wasn't actually teething until four and a half months. Anything is possible, but its hard to tell when they are so orally fixated. HIs crankiness and rubbing his gums with his tongue was new for him. Also the drool intensified and he bites down real hard now.

My son's first two came in at the same time at about 4 months. He drooled constantly before then. Just watch out for mouth/cheek rashes from the drool and the fist rubbing. They can get sore from it all. Micah is now 8 mo. and has 6 teeth already! Your twins are darling!

Heather, I know people who had babies born with a tooth, and others who were 12 months before they had a tooth, so there is a wide range of what is normal. My son has been drooling like crazy for at least 4 months and chews on everything, and he has no teeth yet, so you never know. Your girls could quite possibly be teething, but not necessarily.

Thank you all. I had heard about teething at such a young age, but I didn't think that both of my girls would be having the same reactions at the same time.

My son is just 12 weeks and has the drooling, crankiness and a fever. Poor baby and it's 90 degrees here!
