Hi my name is Heather. I am a new mom of twins. Once realizing the educational system in my area my husband and I have decided to homeschool our girl (when they are old enough). I am just trying to get my foot in the door and an idea of how to go about homeschooling. My motto is you can never be over prepared. My husband and I are both college students (at the ages of 26 & 27) so you can see how education is extremely important to us. |

Hi, Heather! Welcome to the group! I love your picture of you & your babies btw. ;-) Here are some sites you may want to check out. www.hslda.org This site is good to find out about homeschooling, a basic overview of the homeschool laws in each state, & if there are support groups within your state. All these options were on the left hand side of the page when I was last on it.
www.kellylee.info This site belongs to our moderator of our group. I sugguest you look at it, b/c she talks about her life as a homeschool mother, homeschooling in general, & many other reasources.
http://cassandra111774.tripod.com Okay, I am cheating a bit here, but this is my own homeschooling site. ;-) However, I have a section for early childhood homeschooling you may want to check out. Also, I have educational freebies I list on it. I post them here as well.
Those are the 3 sites I would think would give you a good start on your journey to homeschooling your little ones. If you have any other questions, ask Kelly or you can ask me, but Kelly knows more than I do, but between the 2 of us, one of us can get you the answers you need.
Good luck & let us know if you have any other questions. ~Cassandra |

I'm glad you're with us Heather. There's a method called Unschooling that all of us do with our children whether they go to school or not: It's learning while living. There are some who add a lot more on to it than that, but the core principle of learning from life is sound. It's what we do when our children are babies & toddlers before we ever introduce formal school. It's also what families continue to do by role modeling, taking advantage of teachable moments, and helping each other daily.
You might also check out www.homeschool.gomilpitas.com. This is Ann Zeise's A to Z Home's Cool site and she covers so many aspects of homeschooling on her site that it's a great resource for anyone. |
