Powell endorsement
To all republicans, what does the Powell endorsement means to you?

Powell is well respected and he decides to go across party line to support Obama.

I have to love it!

I love it too! He has such a way of making his point, and describing the steps and the thought process he took to make his decision.

I have also noticed the negative reaction from some on the right. Too bad, I always felt Powell was beyond politics, beyond race & beyond reproach. Even though I disagreed with his stance on Iraq, I felt he left the administration because he knew he, (like the public) was sold a bad bill of goods. His resignation at the end of his term was honorable & earned alot of respect.

I would also like to add to Juliets question, does anyone else agree with his Sarah Palin description? I know that has been a hot topic around here, & it was nice to hear someone of his stature agree with how I feel.

Colin Powell is very well respected by me. However that does not mean that I will agree with him all the time. I am a Repulican sahm and I certainly support the McCain / Palin ticket. It is unfortunate that Mr. Powell has chosen the other side, but he has every right to decide what he believes is right and then voice that opinion if he so chooses. That is the wonderful thing about this country, we can do that and not go to jail. However if this country keeps going in the direction the democrats keep taking it we wont have that for long. I hope that I don't offend anyone by having this opinion, but that is my opinion.

Hi Jessica,

I don't feel offended by your comment but I would like to know if you think the Democrats will put into question the right of expression?
That we could risk to live in a totalitarian country?

Yes Jessica, please elaborate on your theory of the democrats being against freedom of expression, I am anxious to hear it!

Well this is how I feel:
Lets start with Imus the tv and radio host that got fired for calling I think it was some women basketball players nappy headed bitches.. Now please don't think I condone this kind of talk however I thought we has something call a constitutional right to freedom of speech. But still Imus got fired and we got hate speech legislation. It is a sad day when someone can burn the flag and not get into trouble but someone say something mean or not politically correct and they get fired. Next we will go to jail. It is a slippery slope I dont want to go down.
Many people in stores or businesses are not allowed to express their religious beliefs by saying, merry christmas, happy hanukka, or blessed be, etc.... They have to say happy holidays. Our children are not allowed to say it in school or even pray their own religion at football game if they so choose. I hear they are even trying to take the pledge of allegiance out of our schools.
One by one it seems as if they are taking our freedoms away but trying to tell us it is in the name of freedom. this is a contradiction and I believe in our constitution and I want to keep my freedoms. Heaven help the administration that tries to take my guns. Alot of this legislation we have the ACLU to thank for.
Again I hope I don't offend anyone and I hope i am accurate in most but this is the opinion I have formulated from things I have learned.
