Newborn sleeping through the night
I have a six weeks old daughter who almost sleeps through the night. I wonder if it is ok to let her sleep so many hours without feeding her. I'm breastfeeding her, and if I feed her the last time by eight o'clock at night than most likely she will not wake up before 5:00 or 6:00 am. She eats every two to three hours during the day. And her weight gain seems to be just fine. Does anybody have some advice on what I should do?

If her weight gain is fine, I would not worry, I would thank God every day ((;p)...my baby still wakes up between 2-3am and then is up by 7am or earlier ...

I wouldn't worry about her not waking for a feeding. At her age she will wake when she is hungry. As long as her weight gain is fine and she is wetting diapers, let her sleep. So many parents struggle with getting their babies to sleep through the night- consider yourself lucky. My son started sleeping through the night when he was 8 weeks old, I didn't sleep through the night until he was 10 weeks- I had to check on him constantly. But once I was sure he was fine and would wake me if he needed me, I started sleeping better.

I was this way when a baby. My mom had to wake me to feed me because I was premature. I also had a lung condition. But, if your little one is gaining well, as the other women said, and you feel it's best on both of you to let her sleep, then let her sleep. Go with your gut, girl! Most of the time, it knows best...and don't mess with this good thing you've got going!

Be grateful, and enjoy it, and hope it continues! You never know when things like learning to sit up, a cold, or a new tooth will change that for a while.
