Let's get started!!
Ok, so we now have 6 members!! Which doesn't seem like much, but it has taken months to get that many together!!

So, I would like to start enjoying this beautiful fall weather we are having, and would like to set up times for everyone to get together.

I think Kidzburg (Mid County Park off Ironbound Rd, near Target) would be great, since there are different ages involved. There is a great walking path around the park, and a nice, clean playground for the kids to enjoy!

I am available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I also am available most evenings, but with dinner/bath/hubby coming home, evenings are a bit more difficult, I'm sure for everyone.

Please post what you are available for and we can try to meet, even a couple people here and there just to have a "buddy" for a walk or play date.

I look forward to meeting everyone!!

Hi! Mid County Park sounds great!!! I've been wanting to take my daughter there but still haven't yet.

I am a SAHM but work once a week. This week I'll be working Thursday but next week I'll work Tuesday. The schedule keeps alternating Tues and Thurs. I can meet in the morning or late afternoon after my daughter's nap. My daughter takes her nap around 12 pm.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hey Rebecca~

I should be able to do next Thursday...either around 10:30 or we can do the afternoon, around 3:30-4pm....let me know what works :0)

let's meet at 3:30pm next Thurs if that's ok with you. Lindsey will be more playful after her nap. :)

Looking forward to meeting you then, Jocelyn! Is there a place in Mid County Park that you'd like to meet? I've never been there before.

Well, there is only one parking lot and then there is the playground, baseball field, and walking path around it. So, I would probably say we can meet at the entrance to the playground and go from there. It's a really nice little park. There is another "real" park off Waller Mill Road, and that has some great nature trails and some play areasw, ducks, etc. But I like Mid COunty because it's convienent, clean, and easy!

I look forward to meeting you there!!

Oops! I forgot to look at the calender. I picked up a shift next Thursday from 4-10 pm and didn't remember it until last night. Sorry, Jocelyn! :( Can we meet another day? I really do want to meet you!
posted by Rebecca on 10/17/2008 01:13 PM | edit | delete

Of course! That's not a problem~~Let me see what the week looks like, and try to figure something out. If we can't work it out this week, I am sure we can the following week!

So, what do you do part time?
posted by Jocelyn on 10/18/2008 07:40 AM | edit | delete

I'm a part-time pharmacist. I love being able to spend time with Lindsey and not have to worry about day care. Hope to see you maybe next week then? I am available Tues, Wed, or Friday. Lindsey is getting her flu shot on Monday. How about you? When are you available?

I would love to meet up with some people for a playdate too! Did you all even come up with a day and time that worked? Sorry to just invite myself, but my son (Carter, 26 months) and I are ready to get out of the house!!

Jennifer, you are absolutely welcome to join! That's the whole point of the group! Rebecca was the only one that had responded so far, so, definitely!

We have been trying to work out a day that worked for both of us...I am available Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays. Morning or afternoon. Let me know what works for you, and we can try to get something together. Also, message Rebecca and see if you guys have any time other than my availability. It would be great to all get together, but even if we can get a couple of people together at a time, that would be great! It's more fun to me, to have someone to go with and talk to while the kids are playing!

Hi Jocelyn and Jennifer! I'm glad that you're interested in getting together, Jennifer! I would love to have you join us! I feel the same way - now that the unpacking is almost done, I'd love to get out of the house. How about next Tues, Oct. 28th in the late afternoon at Mid County Park, say..... 3 pm? If not, let me know what works for you both. I work next Thursday.

Oh, I really want to take my daughter to the Haunted Forest this Sat. FYI it starts at 5:30pm. IT sounds really fun!!! We could meet there, too, if you want.

Where is the Haunted Forest at? FYI for you all, my husband works at Great Wolf Lodge, and they do a great Trick or Treat trail. There's a hay ride, and Disney characters throughout the trail. It's really nice, and safe! They start on the half hour from I think 6 until 8. You can call to check exact times and details.

I have to check my schedule at work tonight to see if I work next Tuesday...I'll let you know tomorrow!

My schedule is pretty open, so we will plan on next Tuesday unless we hear anything different. My husband and I have been hearing a lot about the Great Wolf Lodge and were wondering what it was all about. Is that trail too scary for a little one? Anyway, we look forward to meeting up with you!

Haunted Forest is at Upper County Park. Parking is at Toano Middle School.

Ok, so we'll meet on Tuesday at 3 pm. See you then!

I don't work Tuesday....so that should work! I'm excited to finally have a little group together!

As for Great Wolf, it is incredible! You can check it out online, but actually being there really makes you take it all in! And the trail is not scary at all...it is designed for small children...I took Chloe there to see it the first ngiht, and my husband was Jafar from Aladdin that night (he did a great job!) and they had Shrek, Alice in Wonderland~Queen of Hearts....and more...the hay ride goes around the building, and the kids get candy at each stop.

Can't wait to see you guys!

Oh wow...that trail sounds great! Thanks for the information! Did your daughter recognize your husband when he was in character?
posted by Jennifer on 10/23/2008 01:00 PM | edit | delete

the trail does sound fun! I'm going to check out the website right now. Thanks for the info!

I took Lindsey to the halloween event at the VA Living Musuem last Saturday. It was so fun! It's a really neat place!

See you both on Tues!

Chloe looked at him for a few seconds, trying to figure out what was going on, but then she was fine!

I LOVE the VA Living Museum! When I was a nanny for a family in Yorktown, they had twins and a younger sibling that I watched, I convinced them to get a family membership. I took the m there once a week at least! We knew the whole place by heart! I heard about their Halloween thing, but it was after it happened. Also, Chloe is just now 8 months, so she shows some interest in things like that, but I know in about 6 months she will go crazy over it! I just got her the My First Big Animal Book, and she loves it. She gets so excited when we look at it!

With the colder weather, Carter has been taking longer naps once he is all cozy in his bed, so we may be a little late tomorrow. We will get there as soon as we can though ( as long as the weather is good!)

Hey ladies! So, I am not going to be able to make it! Sorry fo rthe short notice, but a bit of a family crisis came up and I'm not able to come. Hope you guys have fun and hopefully we can get another day together!

posted by Jocelyn on 10/28/2008 02:20 PM | edit | delete

I hope everything's okay, Jocelyn. We'll just meet you another time.

Jennifer are you still meeting us today? Lindsey is still asleep. She fell asleep at about 1 pm and should be up by 3 pm. It only takes me max. 10 minutes to get to mid county park. Are we still on? I haven't been outside yet today but noticed that it's quite windy. If you'd like to meet another day, that's fine with me. We should try to meet somewhere indoors next time, just in case the weather is bad. Any ideas?
posted by Rebecca on 10/28/2008 02:28 PM | edit | delete

We are still up for meeting today. It is a little chilly and windy so we should think of an indoor place that would work for days like this. Have you been to the Books a Million here? I know the one in Florida had a big train table that Carter liked to play with. We can always try the park and if we have to leave, we can all go somewhere else.
posted by Jennifer on 10/28/2008 02:41 PM | edit | delete

Hey ladies!

Everything is fine, just dealing with a lot right now. Hope you guys ended up getting together. I will try to think of some indoor options today and get back to you guys. With winter quickly approaching this year, we definitely need some place a bit warmer to play!

Jocelyn, it is great to hear that everything is OK with you and your family! We look forward to meeting you when things settle down!

Rebecca, it was good to finally meet you and Lindsey. If only the kids would have stayed in the same spot so we could have talked more, but I think they had fun ( I know that Carter did!) I look forward to getting together again soon!

Hi Ladies. I'm also glad that things are okay with you, Jocelyn. We missed you on Tuesday.

Jennifer, it was very nice meeting you and Carter at the park. Next time, we'll have to chat more to get to know each other. It's always nice to have adult conversations. :)

Hope to see you both again soon!
