Ethan will be two on June 7th, almost overnight he has turned into someone I don't know...My darling baby boy used to love to wake up in the morning and hop into our bed and snuggle...now he throws himself on our bedroom floor kicking and screaming until the house it awake and nobody is in bed...He has gotten bvery picky with his foods, won't wear his hat, won't share his toys, needs to be wrestled inton his car seat...Really just stopped cooperating. I generally let him ride out his tantrum, I feel we all need to "let it out" however he has some stamina...I guess this may take a few months...maybe a year? Or do we just get used to it? |

My strategy this summer is constant stimulation! Hiking, swimming, playing in the yard, picnic at the park...I hope 3 isn't worse...I have another baby 8 months old, guess I'll be in this stage for a few years? |

You're not getting old! Toddlers just make you feel that way! hee hee! I turned 40 this year! I had my first child when I was 23...I can honestly tell you that I have enjoyed being a mom more now that I am older...I have more patience and I don't feel as preoccuopied with "stuff"...Have another one! My little ones are 15 months apart, my life is busy, two in diapers...WOW...anyway, good luck to you... |

Hi ladies! I'm new here, but after reading your posts it sounds like we have a lot in common. My son Aidan will also be 2 on July 7th and we are having the same melt-downs and pickiness. It is difficult ignoring his fits, so far he hasn't done it in public, but the day will soon come. Are you ladies planning any big parties for their birthdays? I think we are going to make it a quite birthday for Aidan since we also have a 3 month old baby girl this year. We were thinking of going camping or just taking him to Chuck E Cheese for the afternoon. It's probably the last year we could get away with not having a big party! Last year was just to big and to much work for me. I had just found out I was pregnant right before his first birthday so we made a big fuss and announced at the end of his party we were expecting again. |

Hi Amber. I am having Ethans birthday party this coming Saturday. I have read it's a good idea to only have as many children attend for the number of years they are celebrating i.e. two friends for two year old party...They are easily distracted and get overwhelmed with too many friends and choices...We are having a messy party, decorate cupcakes, finger painting, kiddie pool...just let them get messy and then let them run through the sprinkler...we are doing pbj's using cookie cutters, mac & cheese, fruit cups..they get to serve everything themselves...Oh...the public meltdowns are coming, they learn that this is the BEST time to have a meltdown..FUN!!! |

Well, I'm new here, but it sounds l like almost 2 year olds are the same all over. My son Zack will be 2 July 8th and throws the same fits. It's worse when he is not feeling well, hungry, or bored. So far we haven't had any public fits, but he has taken to screaming at me at the top of his little lungs in Walmart this week, just to see what I'll do. Joy... When we are home, I also let him ride out his tantrum and he's getting better at getting over it more quickly. It's amazing the sense of pride he has though, even at almost 2. His stubbornness doesn't want to admit that he's being silly, so he needs some other "out" or distraction to get him over his fit. It's kinda funny, when I'm not ready to pull my hair out.
