I am having the exact same problem! I find that if I give her a small amount of pumped milk AFTER I breastfeed her, she is much more willing to try because she isnt worried about going hungry. I also let her hold the bottle so she has control instead of me forcing the bottle on her. You might even want to let someone else give it to her because she equates you with breastfeeding. Good luck mommy! |

I had the same problem as well. My daughter refused to take the bottle. My pediatrician suggested trying different bottles, but my daughter refused them all. He then suggested I could wait until she was hungry and leave her with a babysitter and a bottle and that eventually she would take it. However, I felt like I couldn't do that to her. So, now at seven months my daughter still does not take a bottle. However, I would say that there is hope--as your daughter gets a little older he will eat more table food and need less breastmilk. I don't feel so overwhelmed anymore because I don't feel like she is always attached to my breast. I also introduced a sippy cup to her. My pediatrician recommended the cheapy kind because the liquid comes out easier. Now, she drinks a little water with her lunch and dinner. I am hoping to eventually give her breastmilk out of it.
I hope this helps. I can totally identify with you and wish you the best of luck. Just remember that she won't be little forever and try to enjoy the moments you can spend nursing her (even if it seems hard now). |
