Though the title says sleeping...we're not doing a whole bunch of it.
Being a SAHM since day 1, I've held and rocked Noah to sleep since he's been born. To be able to get chores done, I stuck him in the bouncer and bounced/vibrated him to sleep. Now he takes his naps mainly in the bouncer ( I can get him to sleep longer in that than the crib) He doesn't really fall asleep on his own--occasionally he will in the bouncer while I'm showering or doing something out of view. He takes a couple of naps during the day ...depends on when he gets up.
Nights have gone from sleeping all night to waking up every couple of hours. We moved him into the crib from the bassinet/pack n play. He's still in our room because we are living with my fil until we buy our house. I feed him and change him before he goes in the crib and he's up between 12 and 3 and then usually stays in our bed because I fall asleep nursing or he wakes up when I put him in the crib.
I don't want to get this to be a habit but I'm not ready for CIO quite yet nor is it possible because my fil's room is next to ours.
I'm not sure what to do but I need sleep and so does my hubby. How are ya'll fairing with sleep patterns? |

Actually that about sounds like my day too, except Martin falls asleep in a swing with some Pink Floyd lullabies playing. If he doesn't have his Pink Floyd then no sleeping for him. |

You're right about that being a bad habit Beth! You guys are gonna go nuts on no sleep. We put Luke in his crib at about 2 months, in his own room, and we have all been sleeping better. When he was in the room with us, I would hear him making noises & get up to nurse him, even if he wasn't fully awake. Now that he is in the crib with a monitor, I only hear him if he cries, so we are not awakened so frequently. Most nights he sleeps through until 7:30 or so.
Not being in your own house makes it difficult, because you don't want to disrupt your family, but is there a room elsewhere in the house you could put the crib? I would suggest trying it for a few nights, with the monitor, and see how it goes. Motherly instinct makes us wake up at the slightest sound of our babies, but mom needs rest too! Let us know how it's going! |

i know you don't want to let him CIO (Cry it out). but it really is what has to happen. Maybe talk to your fil about it, ask him if it is okay with him and offer to buy him some ear plugs. You really should only have to do it about a week before it hopefully kicks in! :)
Summer sleeps through the night, but every once and a while she wakes up. I dunno why! lol |

Ember has been sleeping through the night, somewhere between 8 and 12 hours, since she was four and a half weeks. When I went back to work we made the decision to move her out of our room and into her crib. The first night she slept almost 8 hours and I woke up in the middle of the night panicked because she had not woken up at all. She had still been waking about every three hours to nurse.
We still wonder if moving her to her crib sooner would have made her sleep through the night sooner. It was the best move we have made so far.
She does not sleep much during the day but I will take it if it means she sleeps all night! |

I think we're doing fine now!!! Noah is sleeping through the night....goes to bed between 9:30 and 10:30 and sleeps until 6 or 8....just depends on how loud daddy is. He naps about 1.5 hours after we get up for about an hour or 2 and then goes down for an afternoon nap for 3-5 hours and sometimes will go down for a short nap after supper. I think he just needed to get caught up with eating and used to the crib and i think him being a little older helps as well.
Hopefully i didn't jinx us...he's staying with my mil tonight so we'll see how that goes!
Thanks for all the input. |
