First of all and most importantly, I dont think you should show your son ANY of your nerves during this important mile stone for him. How old is he? How many days will he be going? What have ya'll been doing up to this point? Talk about it all summer and show him what a big boy he is becoming. Talk about the time you will be dropping him off and what you expect. Ask him questions about what he thinks this is all about. |

I have been through it twice and let me tell you it wasnt easy for me I was nervous for no reason and I was alone in that department my children (both times) were fine and dint even cry but I think I did. but just in case, what you can do is take him once in awhile to the school he is going and let him wonder a little bit but ask if it's o.k to do so first. let him see the class and let him know that he will be going there soon, has he met his teacher? if no try for him to meet him/she if she/him is available so she/he wont look like a stranger and will he be taking the bus to school? if so everytime you see one tell him he will be riding in one of those soon but this change will still be hard for you and it might be for him after all your his mommy, unless his been to daycare. hope this helps. good luck to you both. |
