i am in the same boat. well i could get away with not making money, but it would be great to have an extra income. Roxanne, is this one of the home businesses that you have to pay upfront to get into? it seems like that is all there is, and i have done a lot of searching and gotten burned in the process. I would love to add another income to our family, but i dont want to pay upfront to do so. |

Hi Becky, I would like to make a very significant point that you may want to consider when searching for work from home. There are work at home Jobs and work at home Businesses. When you are taking a work at home Job you should never have to invest or pay money to do the job. I would be very cautious about work at home jobs that require you to pay money.
When you are starting a work at home Business there will most likely be some sort of a cost. Even with the work at home Businesses you will want to be very careful and make sure you are dealing with a legitimate company.
Things to consider when starting a work at home Business would be: what am I getting for the start up fee? are you getting any kind of websites, training, materials or products, ect. Also does the company have a product or service that would be in demand through good and bad economy times. Does the company offer any benefits, training, advancements, bonuses, ect. to its business owners, I am an Independent Business Owner with AmeriPlan and it is a work at home business with a whole lot of opportunities. We do have a low start up fee. There is also a monthly broker fee as well. Now before you stop reading you should investigate what you are actually getting and what your opportunity is with the company. AmeriPlan is actually very generous with the low cost they charge their business owners, and they are absorbing the bulk of our expenses. As a business owner with AmeriPlan you will receive 5 personalized websites in which to use for your business. AmeriPlan continually maintains and updates these for us each month. We also receive unlimited training and mentoring as we grow our business. As an IBo with AmeriPlan you will also receive FREE Dental, Vision, RX, and Chiropractic for your entire household. This is just a few of the benefits we receive as an IBO with AmeriPlan.
Now our company is a service based company meaning we do not sell products or worry with sales tax, shipping, and returns ect. We offer a service to people who are uninsured and underinsured or who are uninsurable. We help them to save money on their dental, and healthcare expenses. We also offer people a means to Make Money at home. AmeriPlan offers their IBO's a 30% residual commission and you earn this every month that your enrollments are with the company. For all of your New enrollments you get paid 30% commission and AmeriPlan sends you a check the next business day of all the new enrollments from the day before. AmeriPlan also has a promotion plan in place. As you grow your business you can work towards advancing in the company. This is just a small glimpse of our business and the company. It is definately worth checking into if you are self-motivated, determined, and serious about working from home and Making Money. We are not a get rich quick business but it is a business that offers a service that 70% of Americans are in need of. I hope this helps you when searching for a work at home opportunity. If you have any further questions feel free to ask, |

Hi! I am a stay at home mom and a Cookie Lee jewelry consultant. I love my job! I work whenever I want and make my own rules. Working just one night a week for about 3 hours I can earn anywhere from $100 and up! The cheapest start-up cost is $333, but there are ways around that. You can have a kick off show where I come to your house, your friends and family shop from my jewelry inventory and rather than me taking home the 50% profit, we apply it towards your start up costs! When I signed up one year ago, I chose the $500 option but only paid $120 out of pocket! With that I got $1000 in jewelry to start selling right away! If you're interested in Cookie lee I can always tell you more about it. Check out my website if you've never heard of it, it's a great product! www.cookielee.biz/JulieDavidson!

I can't help you with a work at home job. I looked into a couple of them and one of them paid .15 for each message I left on the answering machine and a little bit more if I actually talked to the person. The last one I looked into wanted me to work 40 hrs a week during business hours and it was a customer service rep and there couldn't be any background noise so kids was out of the question. They also required going to a two week training to one of their facilities. You would have to request days off just as if you were working a regular job. I don't know about you but frankly that is why I left corporate America. I wanted to be free from a BOSS!!! Good Luck with your search and if you find a good home job please pass it on to us. The AmeriPlan work at home business opportunity is a great opportunity to earn extra money and to build a residual income that you can pass on to your children. If running a business seems scary it isn't. Basically a home business gives you something to build on that will keep growing and growing. We get paid a 30% commission each month for the work we did months before. Once you enroll people to the benefits you are done with that person but you will continue to earn your 30% commission month after month. Whereas with a work at home job you don't get paid if you don't work. You have people tell you how much you can make, when to work, and nothing to leave for your children. There are also alot of tax benefits with a home business. We can write off a percentage of our utilities, phone bills, property taxes, and internet. I love the freedom and the benefits of my work at home business. It is a simple business and I receive continual training and support all on my time table. |

Hello ladies, I would be glad to tell you exactly what I do in my AmeriPlan business. I advertise and market my business online with already prepared templates or sometimes I create my own advertisements. I post ads on CafeMom, Raisingthem, Merchant Circle, and several other communtities. I also place ads on free classified sites. I also advertise locally in my town. I have handed out business cards to people that I come in contact with everyday at the doctors, grocery store, my favorite restaurants, the laundromat, and everywhere else I go on a regular basis. We get 250 free leads each month that I contact through post card, email or telephone. My family and friends all know about the benefits and I usually get referrals if not enrollments from them. When I recieve my interview request I send out an email and then we discuss their questions. I also have a recorded company overview call that is accessible 24/7 for my leads to listen to and jot down their questions. We have many calls to choose from and they are free for us to use.
If anyone wants more information or still has questions feel free to ask. I don't have any problems telling you exactly what this business is all about. I LOVE telling everyone about the wonderful opportunity and the awesome business that I run right from my home. The great thing about it is I set my own schedule and I work it the way I want and feel most comfortable doing it. I am not tied down to certain hours, days, or weeks. I Really Love my Business. Thanks Roxanne |

Hello Morgan and Jackie, I hate to butt-in but I can tell you 2 are frustrated. I am a Mary Kay Consultant, and I know you may not care or think this is for you ladies and please know that is fine with me. I just hate to think I didn't tell you guys and you end up doing something just for the $$. Yes this is a "business" so from the classes/parties/shows/mini facials you get %50 of the sales. You will be teaching skin care and color mainly, which is taught to us by the top women of the company. Now you also get to earn rings, cars, ribbons..... You get the picture I hope!! You could also build a team and earn more that way. Like I said I know this probably not for you ladies but I just had to get it out there!!!!! Thanks |

Morgan you are so welcome!! Please note that I do have a 7 month old and do I am limited to when I leave the house as well, so I do about %85 of my work at home. It sounds like you just don't like a business where you would have to sell any products!!?? And that is not for everyone I understand. I do want to wish you best of luck and I may be asking you questions about your little one, seeing how they are about a month apart. If that is fine with you, and if you have found easy way to do everyday task( like getting them dressed) please let me know.. Thanks |

i am going through the same thing. here is my plan and maybe it will help you out.
i love scrapbooking. my idea is to open a home-based business where i make scrapbooks for people. a friend of mine was going to do it and charge 25 a page, but i know it doesnt cost that much to make a really nice page so i will be charging lower. my services will be full books, single pages, or scrapbook page frames. i can do this at night after my 2yr old is in bed for the night. i already have tons of materials so all i need is customers after i figure out how to advertise.

Hi Cindi, As a business owner with AmeriPlan I advertise and market the 4 different Discount Benefit plans which include Dental, Vision, Prescription, Chiropractic, Physicians, Specialist, Hospital Advocacy, Ancillary, and Podiatry. These Benefit Plans save our members 20-80%. When leads inquire about the Benefit plans I explain the benefits of each one, the prices and answer their questions. When they are ready I go to my benefits website and enroll them onto the plan. It's really plain and simple. Advertise & Market, Explain the plans, and enroll. After that I am done. AmeriPlan takes over and I get paid a commission each month they are on the plan.
The second way that I earn money with AmeriPlan is to advertise and market the Work At Home Business Opportunity. Again I advertise and market the WAH business and when leads inquire I tell them about the AmeriPlan business and the health Benefits that we offer. I answer their questions, go to my IBO website and enroll them. Once they are enrolled I help them with their training and mentor them. The support is ongoing for as long as they are with AmeriPlan. As far as the advertising and marketing goes their is no set method but we do offer suggestions and tools to help you get started. Some people like advertising online while others prefer to go out and talk directly to people. The advertising choice is strictly the business owners decision. We do help the IBO set up a 90 business plan if they want.
Cindi if you read all of my other post you will get additional information about what I do and how we get paid.
We also have a recorded business overview call that details the opportunity. If you would like to hear the call you may dial 616-712-1720.
I hope this answers your questions.
Thank You ladies so much and I do hope that you can find what you are looking for. I know I have tried many things in the past but this has been the most successful and rewarding for me.
Good Luck

I like spa treatments and I would suggest sharing (or working with) BeautiControl. I just started with this company and the rewards are so great. My unit director after working with BeautiControl for 3 years has received a mustang convertible as a gift from BeautiControl. It is hers to keep forever. The products are great and you get a lot of support from others in BeautiControl. They have a great promotion that is going on right now to join BeautiControl right now! |

I would love to make money doing that, but how? and finding time... i can make a baby blanket in two to three days, but who would want to buy it? i guess i am too negative. does anyone really think things like that would be worth while to try and make money from? i know i am really insecure and frustrated and i hope no one though i was attacking them. |

Erin, I also LOVE to scrapbook and I find I don't have any more time to do that since I had my daughter. I guess I could do that after she is asleep if it meant I was doing it for an income. But how do you get clients? I recently got into digital scrapbooking cause I figured it will be a little faster and at least I don't have to take out all that stuff everytime, cause I don't have a dedicated workspace. If you figure out how to get clients and if it's worth the time, please let me know. Maybe we can do something together, you never know. |

Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know the $25 start up special has been extended through Oct.31, 2008. I don't have to worry about my AmeriPlan business going flat when the economy does, because we are helping people save alot of money on their healthcare. Without AmeriPlan they would have to pay full price... so when peoples budgets are tight they want and need to keep our service.

Hey I have two kids. One is in Kindergarten and one is about to turn 3. I signed up with Avon. I love doing it. I have a website so I never have to leave the house and I don't have to worry about selling to people out on the street or door to door. However, I am finding that right now I am spending more in buying products for myself then I am in selling products. I was thinking about doing a resume service before I joined Avon. I am good at doing up resumes but then thought about it and figured people might be mad at me if they don't get the job. So I scratched that idea. Then I thought about how much I love to crochet. I could make blankets or sweaters or things like that. But then thought about how much my hands tend to hurt by the time I get 1/2 way through my project. (I think I may have a touch of Arthritis). So, now I am just sticking with Avon. It's only $10 to get started and you get that right back on your first or second week as a credit so it's like a wash out. Which is good in these times. :) But so far, I like it. I don't know if it's for everyone but you can always do it all from your computer too. I know that it's not what you might want to do but by all means it's worth a try. Expecially since you get your money right back in just a few weeks. Oh, and you make 50% on your first four campaigns if you do it right. If you want to check it out and get more info then go to www.youravon.com/cwilliams9001 Hope this helps. :) |

Hello girls, I too sell Avon and you can get your own personal webpage, but it will cost you $7.50 each campaign unless you service 1 customer then it's free, so friends and family out of town can buy things and have it shipped to them at as little as $3 for shipping or free with a coupon code. I have been selling AVON for almost a year now. I do really well around the holidays, so now would be a great time to join and for only $10 you have nothing to lose. If you need more info email me chariset29@aim.com |

Yah, I'm not alone!!! I agree w/ you guys! I'd like a legit SAH job & to know what I'd be doing beforehand. Just something profitable without upfront costs that doesn't involve selling anything!
I've sold both Home & Garden Party (home decor) & Tupperware in the past when I was working FT so I didn't have time to devote to them. There are several reasons that I not rejoining either of them: 1) can't afford the start-up costs 2) both involve in home parties which is time AWAY from my family and 3) I'm not a salesperson!
Let me know if anyone finds anything!!
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!

I totally understand! I work from home for Fox Studios doing computer work! I'm very lucky that I have this job. We just moved to Idaho and I was driving along and saw a sign that said "Scentsy candles...open house" I love candles of course, and being new to neighborhood..I didnt know anyone so I thought I would stop by. I saw the product, and I wanted one right away. I also signed up as an independent consultant because most of the sales I can do directly online since we have replicated websites through the company. I'm going on my second month and last month made $150 in commission. Nice little chunk, huh? And I love the product so much that it's not hard to sell.. the start up kit is only $99 and you get the candle warmer and wax in the kit.. (which retails $35) So, you're really not losing anything at all. I can give you more details if you'd like...you can also check out the website....

Hello ladies, It sounds like most of you mommies are wanting a data entry type job, envelope stuffing, or taking surveys. There are those type of jobs out there but I don't think they are very legit or you have to store products in your homes. With the AmeriPlan opportunity we don't sell a product... we basically explain our health discount programs and either the person needs them or they don't. AmeriPlan is continually finding ways to make our business easier. Currently when talking to someone about working from home we have a 30 second script that directs them to a pre-recorded company overview call. This allows the interested party the opportunity to listen 24/7 at their convenience. If they have questions we answer them and then we enroll them. It is really very simple. If anyone would like to listen to this overview call you may dial: 616-712-1720, and we have many to choose from.
Most of the other work we do is advertising and marketing online and locally, whichever we choose. It gets really fun being creative in our advertisements... we like to think outside of the box. The great thing about the internet is their is literally thousands of places to advertise and market for FREE!!!! As far as locally goes just think about everyone you know who doesn't have any kind of Dental or medical insurance or would like to work from home. These people could be your next enrollment.
If anyone would like more information let me know or view our website www.freedomathometeam.com/rgodair. My toll free number is 888-245-9220.
You don't have to be afraid to join up with AmeriPlan because there are no contracts to sign and you can quit at any time (although I don't think you would want to).
I look forward to talking with some of you.

Hello everyone I have done a lot of searching my self and truthfully by the time you research all the opportunities you've wasted more time than the return itself. I have looked into alot of things from selling products to surveys and still haven't found a lucritive enough field so me personally I have decided while I am home with my child .....it's time to go to college. This is just my experiance but it took a while for me to come to this decision. 2.5 years to be exact. Unless you are a social butterfly ....selling is not for you. though it is a wonderful way to have a business like (AVON) again great for social butterflies. I feel going to college is the best decision I have ever made at 23 years old, my self , I have a big future a head with more children and most importantly my own happiness. I hope this may help. P.s. I do like the ideas of watching other children for those whom can handle it. Have a really wonderful day! |

Ok!! Here is some more info I found while researching the company. Please keep in mind that the reason there is so little info available RIGHT NOW is because the company is in a Soft-Launch. The ideas is to spread the word and give people a FREE position in their awesome matrix! After the soft-launch, the website will be fully loaded with all the details and they'll be in a Pre-launch position, giving us a chance to further investigate the opp and see if we want to stay in. YOU SHOULD SHARE THIS OPP WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN NOW!! I copied and pasted this info below from an article I found about ABG. Compensation Plan Potential With Acquire¢s compensation plan there are 5 ways to earn money. Quick note. The payplan will not be 100% set in stone until the company starts its official pre-launch on October 26th. So there could be some minor changes. Fast Start Bonuses. 3 Levels Deep. ( $50, $20, $10) Matching Bonuses. 6 Levels Deep. ( 100%, 30%, 20%, 10%, 10%, 10%) 3X9 Forced Matrix Pay. ( Up to 6 levels without sponsoring ) Leadership Bonus. Roll-Up Bonus. So lets look at an example of someone who can sponsor people. Assuming I personally sponsor 30 people during this soft launch that is going on right now they would receive $50 X 30 or $1500 on first level fast start bonuses. If each of those 30 only average 3 people and fill their first level then I would receive an additional $20 X 90 or $1800 on my second level fast start bonuses. If those 90 only average 2 people each then I would receive an additional $10 X 180 or $1800 on my third level fast start bonuses. So if no other people are sponsored then I already have $5100 just in fast start bonuses. I would also get a check every month that matches exactly what my personally sponsored people make in matrix pay. So if each of my personally sponsored people average only $250 in matrix pay then i would receive an additional $7500 per month and that would be every month. Even if I never sponsored another person. So add $5100 to the $7500 and I have potentially made $12,600 my first full month in Acquire. Best part is those numbers don¢t include the matching bonuses on levels 2 thru 6 or any leadership bonuses that I would receive. Are you starting to see the potential? What if over 12 to 18 months I was able to personally sponsor 500 people and they each were able to earn only $250 per month in matrix earnings? The first level matching bonus alone would be $125,000 per month.

im sorry but i really don't like the idea of putting money into a stay at home job or business, i mean when you got outside the home to get a job most places aren't like"ok now it's $50. to start." it just seems like a joke to me and like alot of people who have commented I to have done the surveys, the at home telemarketer, ect. I think ill just wait to make money till my daughter is in school. |

I must say that as a women with a home based BUSINESS { and there is a difference in a business and JOB!! } I love the company i am with, the money i am making is no joke I can tell you that.. Now I understand that direct sells is not for everyone but you put in a business what you get out of it!! Please note that I would never go to a JOB and pay them to start to work, but I bet someone invested money so you can work for THEM!!! I don't want to sound mean but it kills me to see people think that a SAH job and a home based business is the same!! I did have to invest in my business but just this weekend{ Friday and today } I worked 3 hours and made $200.00 an HOUR. Show me a legal JOB that pays you that much{ha ha}. Now I have been doing this going on 3 years{you so the math} Oh yeah and we are in a economic depression, but besides the money I made for my family I made 6 women fill better than the have in YEARS, and I love that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get so much out of this business it isn't even funny. So ladies please think before you start a business or go out and get a JOB what are you putting into it and what are you getting out of it? |

Who says that a job doesn't cost you anything???? Well when I worked in the corporate world I was required to wear business or business casual clothes, those don't come cheap. It also cost me fuel everyday. What about day care... that cost money. Then there were all of the add ons and programs they would want you to invest in, or birthday parties and presents for your co-workers. I'll take the $50 mo broker dues any day, that actually covers the maintenance of my websites, my benefits package, and for taking care of my customers. With my work at home business I can work in any kind of clothes I want, I don't have to leave the house, my car doesn't get wear and tear on it, and no day care expenses.
My work at home business is the best investment I've made, but it isn't for everyone.
