Yes this sounds about right! Teens are what I call bi-polar! LOL! My daughter is 12 and she is a very loving and caring child... However there are times when NO ONE can do right!
Usually when she gets in those moods the 2 of us go for a walk and we talk about her day and I recap on how I raised her. I usually works. If not I tell her to vent it out some where I cant hear her! LOL |

My 12yo daughter started in on a mean streak when she went to public schools (when she was 10) and no matter how much we talked to her and guided her, or tried to help her problem solve, or talked to the teachers and the counselor, it just kept getting worse and worse. I'm glad we didn't have any younger children home during that time or they would have been toast! We were able to bring Rachel home for school and reduce her exposure to situations that she couldn't conduct herself in properly. She's matured a lot in the two years at home and we plan for her to go back to public school for high school.
I also noticed that Rachel started having PMS about three years before her actual periods start. I believe hormones play a part in their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personalities.
You are a caring mother and I'm sure your daughter will continue to respond to your parenting. Just keep in mind that you aren't alone! |

My son is 14YO and he is a very sweet boy but he can be very mean with his sisters that are only 2 and 3 yo and he can play well with them sometimes. I think is the Teenagers ups and downs. I always try to talk to him about his attitude when he is more relaxed - It works for some hours... |

I have the same issues with my 14 y/o son & his little 15month old sister. Most of the time he is great with her, but when he's on the "downside" of his teenageness her can get short with her. I find if I just give him a concerned look it works better then when I scold him. Then he'll go & calm down, but if I say anything it could begin to escalate, I hate when that happens. I think we still get alot of respect in comparison to other parents we know, but it seems to stem from picking our battles. |
