Do you have a baby carrier or sling? That way he still gets the comfort he needs, but you are able to clean, play with your toddler, and other things hands free. Good luck! |

He might be just frustrated with his own body. I know everyone is anti-TV but have you tried getting him to watch the TV at all? I guess the Baby Einstein videos are pretty good. My baby is in the same "phase" and she is just fascinated by the T.V. I was all about "no TV watching" but you do need a break, a little bit won't kill him. I just lay her on her side next to the TV sometimes when I need to do dishes or something. |

my son was very cranky about that time too... he was cutting teeth. He also was realizing that mommy can't live for just him and I have other things that I have to do. He had to just cry sometimes... Sounds heartless, I know. But, you have to do it every once in a while. You'll learn the difference between the angry cry, and the really needing you cry. Good luck to you, hon!! |

thanks i hope it's a tooth he just doesn't like do be let go of my only source of freedom is his swing ( which he's almost to big for, and was addicted to before ) i guess he'll be the one that suffers with the teething process ( besides me of course ) because i didn't relize she even had her molars. |

I know this is from a few days ago, but made me sort of laugh when I saw the subject because my son was soooooooo crabby up to 4 mos. I just didn't understand what the heck was going on until I realize it was his sleep. Also, I think that the biggest change was when we introduced white noise. When he got really cranky, we'd turn it up really really loud (louder than the cry -- we used an old tv that wasn't hooked up to cable at first or a radio tuned to a station that doesn't come in at all), he would calm down immediately, then gradually his moods started changing from cranky most of the time to the happiest baby ever. Also, yes, it could also be teething. Give him tylenol every 6 hours (TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST BEFORE DOING SO!), and see if that helps. Our son teethed (drooling excessively, gnawing on everything, etc. etc.) from 4 mos until now, 9 mos. I'm sure he's still teething, but it doesn't appear to bother him as much. He has 1 tooth and 3 others are appearing now.
Also overstimulating your son can cause him to be fussy. One toy that our son loves the most is the LeapFrog Music Table (I got it used on Craigslist for $15). From 4 mos (where we helped him stand up and move stuff) to now, it is still his favorite toy. Each kid is different though.
Walks too helped my son. |
