Every time my son, 2 goes out to the store or mall or anywhere he gets overly excited and runs the opposite way. Then I have to stop what im doing to chase after him and by the time I catch him.. He have ran through out the whole store. It's beginning to drive me nuts! Espcially because its out in the public.. no love taps on the booty allowed. I've tried talking to him and telling him its not okay. I tried strapping him down but he only starts to whine and it gets really annoying. And I don't do child leashes. Well, I would love to hear from you all. Helpp! |

I hear you..our son is the same way. I gave in and bought a harness...just for when we're somewhere he could get lost/hurt. |

so I'm guessing your son won't sit in a stroller or a shopping cart? I do not have that problem in stores yet, probably because I don't let my 2-1/2 yr old's feet even hit the parking lot. EVER. She goes from the car seat to stroller or shopping cart. Then if she gets squirrely I get a book off the shelf and let her look at it, or give her snacks. I know you are not supposed to "bribe", but it keeps everyone sane, and the shopping gets done. When we (we-- meaning the whole family) take walks around the neighborhood, if she lets go of my hand for a second, I pick her up and tell her, "either hold my hand, or we're not walking" if she lets go of my hand again, I pick her up and put her in the stroller. Good luck, I'm interested in hearing what you try, and find as a solution. |

Why don't you want to try the harness? Its a wonderful way to let your child explore without the risk of losing them or chancing them getting abducted. |

I agree with Sarah. I wouldn't worry about rude stares or what anyone else thinks. That is your son you are protecting, and if they don't like it, they can look the other way. |
